Marvel Legends Maximum Series

Spidey shipped from Amazon!
Made me look and mine is arriving today! Unfortunately, I'm leaving in about 30 minutes for a trek to see a concert and won't be back home until likely early morning tomorrow. Still, I'll get to play tomorrow.

Also, thanks to you, I got the Best Buy price for Hulk, but even with the savings, I still wish he was all new. One thing that's been bothering me that seems like the least they could have done, is replace the ripped pants overlays over his shins. They could have made the lower legs look different just with the overlays and the new feet.

I wish I had more time to dedicate to these boards. I would get on every couple of days and ask what you would want in a Maximum ______ figure.

Today's attempt: What would you want in a Maximum Punisher set?

What would you want in a Maximum Punisher set?
I’ll play:
-three portraits: First Appearance, Bradstreet, Dillon
-three sets of arms: long sleeves (with swappable white/black glove ends for forearms, white ones long, black ones short and bunchy and also able to be used on the short sleeved arms), short sleeves, trenchcoat sleeves
-various sets of hands, in black, white and no-gloves options
-optional trench coat
-optional skull “vest”, able to be worn under trench coat
-two removable belts: one all-white and one black with white “teeth”
-swappable black/white boots
-two thigh holster options: one white, one black
-First Appearance sniper rifle
-9mm hand gun
-M60 machine gun with bullet belt
-bazooka
-blast effects for all weapons

. . . that should about do it.

Body should be all-new with lots of creases and seams, bridging “spandex” and tactical gear. Sculpted web belt in case one wants to leave the larger belts off. He should be a big guy, like maybe just shy of the new modern Luke Cage.

And maybe a van.

Got to play with Spidey and damn, he's a fun figure! Excellent articulation and I love most of the options. The web shooters, the web shooting, web options and shield. Spidey-sense. All amazing. I prefer the McFarlane masked head over the Larson one, though they are very similar to each other.

I do think the Peter Parker head is terrible. The eyes are too wide open and the smile is just weird.

For Punisher I'd err on the side of all the extra goodies AoK suggested, and in fact I'd give up extra guns and weapons to get more arms, gear, hands, etc. Obviously Punisher needs weapons, but there's so many great 3rd-party options out there I'd much prefer an extra set of arms to an extra firearm or two.

I like the Maximum Series Spider-Man. I think the price was pretty fair given that I’m pretty used to $25 on legends and this guy practically had an accessory pack that I’d probably have bought for about $20.

I do wish they hadn’t went for the McFarlane/Larsen era Spidey or at least included some more generic heads. I’ll never use the alternate masked head and the web pattern’s so dense no other Spidey’s head will match.

If the idea of the Maximum line is that they’d be definitive, I think the really artist specific heads are sort of getting in the way for Spidey and Hulk so far. I’m pretty curious about the new torso for Hulk will end up looking and functioning in-hand though. Doesn’t seem like he’s selling out all over like Spidey.

Hey, @raybot! I tried messaging all of my IG mutuals about this place but I think IG marked my messages as spam and never sent them. In any case, I'm glad you found your way here.

Now where's that customs thread?

I think definitive means the opposite of generic which is what Legends under Hasbro has been mostly. I like the Maximum line for celebrating those looks and bringing them to life. I get some might be annoyed, but that's a huge part of the draw. Legends fans are used to reuse and general looks which explains a lot of the ire. Just give me my 3 figures a year that actually leap off the page - 2010s looks for Cap and Thor please next.

Good to see you again btw, I miss the paint works!

Maximum Spidey has landed in my POL. I........I THINK I'm going to keep him.

So now I'm sitting on him, Punisher/Bushwacker, 97 Nightcrawler and GI Joe Zandar, Do I just pull the trigger and ship or keep waiting for the ever-moving-due-date 97 Gambit?

My Spidey arrived from Amazon today.

I'm more than happy with him. I have only a few other ML Spidey figures, the first Mafex, black suit, Scarlet Spidey versions, the Into the Spiderverse deluxe Peter B Spidey with the gargoyle, and the 2 comic Mezco Spidermen figures. I never got all of the multipacks for slightly new versions of hom, so this one takes the place of the old TB "McFarlane" Spiderman (which has been my fave for years).

I put him through some posing paces, swapped some hands out, and currently have him in a crouched on his toes, one hand in front of him on the ground pose.

Based on Enforcers opening post and review, I finally decided to order Maximum Spider-Man. It sounds fun, and in the reviews on YouTube, it looks really cool. So, F it. I'm in.

I pre ordered the Maximum Hulk too.

I really hope they get to a Maximum Wolverine sooner than later, being he is my favorite character. The rumor of Deadpool being the 3rd and maybe final Maximum figure this year is interesting though. I can't see passing up anything X related.

I was trying to think of the Top 5 characters I'd like to see a "Maximum" of.

I feel like it would be

1.) Wolverine
2.) Captain America
3.) Daredevil
4.) Punisher
5.) Thor

Maximum Spider-Man looks like a figure Legends collectors will be happy to own, it just sucks that it's so overpriced. Hulk, on the other hand, strikes me as a perplexing offering. He features a lot of reuse and it seems like the main selling point is he can clap now. Granted, I am not much of a Hulk fan so maybe I'm underselling the importance of this function, but I just don't see much value in that one. I wonder if this is some sort of Maximum Sandwich Strategy where they lead-off with an all new figure of a popular character, follow it up with a more expensive but less impressive release, then try and blow everyone away with whatever comes next? Deadpool seems like the frontrunner since he's a ninja and would benefit from added articulation, come come with lots of hands, weapons, and even multiple heads. If they want to paint most of the costume details too then he could be reused as a base for several characters going forward too. I'm probably content with the Deadpool figures I already own, but if they did a Maximum Iceman...

Got to open my Max Spidey. Not much more to say about him. I like it, he poses really well. Feels a little too rubbery right now. One thing I don’t understand is why his toes are hollow. Doesn’t look great. I don’t mind the unmasked head, but the non-gloves hands look oversized to me. I love the Spidey sense effect. The webs are fine, but they didn’t do the figure in package any favors by having those webs against an insert that’s pretty much the same color. Makes the package look empty. Well, off to a ziplock bag those accessories will go. This is a quintessential ‘90s Spidey if I ever did see one.
