Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I can take or leave wired capes. I do not seek them out but enjoy them if they’re included on the figure. The ones I have that I can think of off the top of my head are SWBS ESB 2pk Vader, Revelations King Grayskull S7 GI Joe Ultimates Cobra Commander, TCats Ultimates Mumm-Ra the Everliving, TMNT Ultimates Shredder (maybe?) They’re all fine but I don’t do a lot of posing, nor do I have shelf space in many cases, to have them flowing all over the place. I agree that they elevate posing for photos, but my main reason for appreciating them is that they allow the natural articulation of the figure to shine without obstacles.

Honestly, as much as I like doing crazy poses with wired capes, I think a lot of the real value is a combination of allowing proper use of the articulation, and just being able to move the cape -at all-. I don't think enough can really be said for the display potential of just not having a cape that is forced into a specific shape all the time.

Sculpted capes only come in three varieties, really; completely flat/no motion, slightly blowing to one side, greatly blowing to one side. And it really does lock you in in how you display them.

Not just being locked into to how you pose them, but 80th Thor and the figures built off him all have this solid chunk of plastic hanging off their backs that screws with the figure's balance and weakens the joints over time, as well.

Also very, very true.

Hasbro isn't as good at the pliable/rubber-ish capes as Toy Biz was. My other problem with the plastic capes is that you're forced to work around them. My display is fairly packed, and it's frustrating to have to maneuver around a cape that sticks out 1.5".

The only plastic cape I don't hate is Mr. Sinister's, and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't eyed a soft goods replacement.

Soft goods wired capes are like $30 or so, maybe more. Thats half the maximum price right there. And I mainly prefer them for the same reason, I don't want a giant brick of a cape getting in the way of posing and displaying. There are a ton of figures that can really only do static poses cause of their capes.

I'm more than willing to wait and see how this cape comes out, but Hasbro's soft goods usually have terrible materials. Plus they did the thing where you just fold up the end and leave that gross looking seam on the inside. There's a good chance I'm going to feel compelled to replace that cape anyway..

I think I’m sold on getting Maximum Thor now, can get him for £45 if I use a store discount so that feels reasonable, paid the same for Spidey.
