Marvel Legends Gamerverse

That's a great cigar! Just paint the tip.

I wanted this set for the Nick headsculpt, but this does not look good - and now that you've said teen girl bad haircut, all I see are those terrible baby bangs that looked good on absolutely no one.

TBF, it at least seems like Overwatch 2 is a pale shadow of what OW was in the heyday. Definitely feels liek its figure prospects have fallen off. I feel like Rivals will probably get a solid half decade before it sops being popular enough for figures to be worthwhile. Apex Legends, it got what, 2 waves of figures?

I do wonder if we'll be getting some from the new Marvel beat-em-up though. Lot of classic characters in there that we've got, but some we haven't seen yet.

edit: OMG I just realized Cosmic Invasion has Beta Ray Bill.

Overwatch is definitely past its initial hype, but it has survived well enough to keep getting news, big name collabs, and active support. Does that translate to toys for it? Hell no. But Rivals is Marvel, which has had a strong ongoing toyline for this kinda thing for around 20 years, and a lot of other lines. It would have way better support than Apex, Valorant, TF2, or other games where the ONLY released figures possible are unique molds unsupported by anything else.

I think the new Spider-Man game would be a good comparison as well. Every other directly adjacent game (Horizon, LoU, GoW, etc) only got a figure or two in a half-assed line that barely lasted, but being a part of the Marvel brand, Spidey ended up getting quite a solid line-up of characters, albeit pretty spread out.

I really want Nova and Phyla from Cosmic Invasion, they're some of me and my best friend's favorite characters, especially the looks they're crafted after. Would definitely prefer comic Phyla first, though.

If Marvel Cosmic Invasion is the thing that gets us a decent Beta Ray Bill and Phyla-Vell, so be it.

I have a love/hate relationship with Overwatch. Mostly hate now. I put about 500 hours into it and had less fun with every passing second. Like most competitive games, the casuals bounced within the first two years, leaving only the sweaty, toxic players. Then the powers that be began chasing the perfect hero balance, which is impossible to achieve. My friends and I still joke about returning to it. We even joked about it today. It's like texting an ex. It seems like a great idea until you remember all that comes with it.

I finally uninstalled Rivals last week. I put about 150 hours into the game, but most of that came during the game's first six months. I was starting to get that Overwatch feeling. The good times were more and more fleeting. They'll always have my thanks for cementing Magik as a B-list character.

That reminds me that I read a couple of great Bluesky posts about Rivals the other day:

The amount of X-Men characters coming out for Marvel Rivals. They know who keeps the lights on IKTR

Avengers got the MCU cash flow for a bit but they all come running back to the TALENT when the shine wears off

I have to wonder if Venom is theoretically one of the next figures to come out in a second assortment of the kith merchandising variants, what colorway would he be in? Because the shade of blue is a lot darker than his player one skins. If anything it’s closer to his player 2 alternate colors already. So where would we go from here? Would we get the gold/orange hyper venom? Or would it be an even darker and richer shade of blue? Or would they try to make it as saturated as possible and make it really bright??

Tried to get the Marvel vs. Capcom figures because I knew they'd sell out. Added all four to my cart but with in the two minutes it took to check out all but Captain America sold out. Seems absolutely absurd to me they all sold out so quickly, presumably to people who don't even collect Marvel Legends figures typically.

I'm not super torn up about it or anything since it's figure I'm not even sure I want, but I really don't see the enjoyment in having to buy something immediately or it sells out in 30 seconds. Why not just manufacture more?

I was curious how fast they'd sell out. Reminds me of the old original Cobra Commander debacle a few years back, except we already have easy access to all of these figures in normal colors minus the awkward branding so I don't think folks are anywhere near as mad.

I mean the funny thing is if the marketing tactic failed and they lingered for a few weeks I could see myself being like... do I WANT a weird Wolverine variant? Maaaaaybe? But them being so exclusive is just an easy way to save me bad impulse control money.

Was the shipping $20? I was driving and didn't make an attempt at ordering. I would've liked another Wolverine, if the colors were a bit more appealing, so I'm kind of glad I didn't have to make the decision on a Wolverine wearing a color clashing blue belt. Tacking on shipping + sales tax would've been tough, but I did buy a two pack with a Silver Samurai I didn't need.

I added a keychain to check shipping and they wanted $20, so probably, yes.

Forgot to even follow up on the KITH figures today. Sounds like I probably could have gotten the Cap I wanted. Oh well, just put that money towards the next Gamerverse Wolverine repaint.

It's going to be interesting, to see if Hasbro reuses the Wolverine buck or not. They have so many to pick from, and you never really know with Hasbro. He's divisive so either way, there will be upset fans.

I'm sure there's at least one more Gamerverse Wolverine re-use coming.

I don't want to see this Wolverine body used for a comic figure. The Juggernaut wave Wolverine body is almost a decade old, too. It's past time for them to start on a new Wolverine body.

It's just marketing. Most of this forum didn't even know what that brand was. Now everyone does.
See but here’s the thing:
I am aware of “Kith” now, but in a “fucking yuck this is to be avoided” kind of way.
Happens a lot with “branding” and me: sure, they get the message out to me, but not with the results they wanted.
I know folks say there is no such thing as bad publicity, but at least on a personal level that is absolutely not true.

Agreed. Everything about this just seems repellent to me. The whole "branding" thing is like that for me. Why would I want to pay to advertise your shitty, overpriced line?
