Marvel Legends Gamerverse

Here in Canada Gargantos was around $90 regular retail but during Prime Days he went down to $67 so I caved. Juggernaut is another one I am watching for a sale. At one point he was down to $65Cdn but I didn't bite at the time so now I am waiting ($78 during Prime Days).

As for Gargantos, he is super fun and I can see why they had to go with the second, player two, release because I don't see them ever using any of the mold again, except for maybe a future re-release of the character in say 5-10 years.
He's currently $69.99 on Amazon and for a character/figure that, while very cool, isn't one I'm burning to have in my collection. Not to mention where the hell I'd put him. So I have a hard time trying to justify that expense, especially when there's SO MUCH ELSE in the pipeline soon.

Oh definitely. The other problem for me is that I'm almost 100% sure in a decade those limbs/tentacles are going to break down. I love his ability to pose in so many crazy ways, but I am scared to leave him in any pose outside of "starfish" because of that very worry. Which of course eats up a huge amount of display space. I'm almost tempted to hang him from the ceiling.

Was Shuma considered a hit enough to warrant a second release in alternate colors? I know fans were thrilled to get him, but did that translate into sales?

I think he was considered expensive for Hasbro to make and has no re-use potential, so Hasbro has to maximize their profits by releasing him in an alternate color-way.

If a pink/purpley Gargantos gets released and eventually ends up languishing in dicscount then I'd buy him for the fun of having another, but certanly not at full price.

I've been noticing how Jada Toys have been giving a real boost to the 'second time around' experience of doing player 2 colours by including not just extra accessories but also in both colours so you can upgrade the player 1 version, and I think Hasbro are really missing a trick in not planning out a full strategy of delivering player 1 and player 2 colours while also back loading the player 2s with similar bonus pieces so that they make double dipping really worth it.

If every Gamerverse figure was something like 25-27 or in a 50-55 two-pack, then they could approach player 2 colours as being deluxe priced releases at 35 with a load of bonus accessories or maybe something like a deluxe player 2 colours two-pack being about 65.

I think this would make it feel much more desirable for us to want to build out full ranks of gamerverse fighters and their variants, rather than for instance what I see more of which is a lot of conversations between fans who are going in on splitting two-packs for the characters they want most or waiting till there's a colour variant so they can but only one at a cheaper discount price.

Unfortunately I don't think they will ever see money saved on mold reuse as being worth pivoting into doing extra tooling on small accessory parts instead of just wanting to recover costs for the profit margin.
