Marvel Legends Gamerverse

I know this is game accurate, but they would have absolutely unhesitatingly got me with the updated Wolverine body if it were brown and gold, because that's the one I cannot resist, and I JUST BOUGHT TWO COPIES of the last one so I could display both heads, because I'm a fool.

Still may get the game one though.

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of Gamerverse Thanos and Silver Samurai on ebay in the future.

While I played the Capcom Marvel games, I wasn't clamoring for figures. That said, some of these are intriguing.

Wolverine looks cool. I do like the articulation improvements. And the head sculpt and big claws are fun. As you may have guessed, I have no use for another Silver Samurai. I highly doubt this Silver Samurai will have any aftermarket value, so Wolverine will be costing a lot. I'll likely wait for a pricedrop, even though Wolverine stuff usually sells out and doesn't linger.

Psylocke looks good. While I didn't hate (or even dislike) the previous one, this figure is obviously an improvement. But I really don't need another Thanos, much less one with a funky head crown. Too bad an alternate comic head isn't included, especially as the previous comic Thanos only had a screaming head and old Thanos head. Missed opportunity, but I understand not including a comic based head with a video game figure. But it is a bit disappointing. I don't love Psylocke enough as a character to go full price for this set. Especially as once again, I doubt her 2pk character will fetch much on the aftermarket.

Cap looks great. I much prefer chainmail for him, but this figure does look great. He was often drawn as not having chainmail, so this can work as a comic figure. While I'm happy with my 20th anniversary Cap (with borrowed normal shield), I do love Cap, especially with some articulation improvements. I have no need for a blue Venom, but I do think he'll sell on his own which reduces the price for Cap.

No interest in War Machine or another Omega Red. WM is only slightly tempting in that his colors are somewhat appealing. If this hits rock bottom pricing, I may get it for WM.

Gargantos looks amazing. Impressed with his size. And his moveable eye and eyelids looks like a lot of fun. I feel this figure can work with a lot of lines as a monster of the week adversary.

Juggernaut looks cool. I'm happy with the previous one. But getting an even beefier and more articulated Juggernaut is appealing. I think this will pass well enough with comic figures as well.

Shuma was my BAF vote for years and I think I only removed him because I gave up. But MAN, he looks absolutely fantastic. Day 1 preorder.

There’s a lot more here than I thought that I wanted. Capt looks great and continues the trend of being SO CLOSE to my perfect Capt. Chain mail and bigger eyeholes would’ve took this one to being perfect.

I like Psylocke enough to get her and I surprisingly really like Thanos. That orange is real striking and it reminds me of the 5” version I had as a kid.

I need a new Omega Red, so I’m still looking out for him. Is there any difference between this one and the 5 pack version?

Juggernauts always been a favorite of mine. He looks great and he’ll be hard to pass up even if I’m pretty happy with the 80th Ann version.

Which other characters do we already have that would go with these MvC versions? These are the ones I can think of:

Cyclops ('97 with TAS head)
Storm ('97 with retro card head)?
Rogue ('97)?
Gambit ('97)?
Cable (Zabu wave)
Marrow (Nemesis wave)
Spider-Man (Maximum)
Hulk (Maximum)

Hate the two-pack release style. With that out of the way, my opinions on them:

Wolverine/SS: Wolverine got demoted to elbros? Massive L. Silver Samurai looks cool, but I prefer the chest of the Retro. Still, I'd buy him but don't want Wolverine.

Psylocke/Thanos: Psylocke on this body is nice but the face looks nothing like her in-game look. Still, I'd buy her, but I don't want or need this Thanos; I have the Walmart version. So, again, one for two is a pass.

War Machine/Omega Red: Omega Red looks identical to the one I have, and this War Machine body kinda sucks. Those pinned legs with the kneecap color showing was ugly then, and it's outdated and ugly now.

CA/Venom: Ugh. Another transitional Captain America. He's got butterfly joints but still rocking the old ab crunch. At least this comes with a shield. Venom is cool. This set is tempting but I know this cap will be junk when they decide to stop stringing us along and give him a decent upper ball joint.

Juggernaut and Shuma are both neat. No real notes, other than the colors look a little dull in the stream. I would have gone with more vibrant colors on both of them. I like the midsection detailing on juggernaut and shuma is well-appreciated. Nice articulation advancements on Juggs.

Overall, as a big fan of MvC2, it's pretty underwhelming. I know there's a lot of hype around these but it's like half repaints.

Oh, don't get me started on the evils of multi-packs, even when you do want all of the figures in them...

I definitely prefer the shinier silver for Harada, but holy crap, I love that Wolverine. Definite new default display version!

First off, nice to see you here :)

Second, dang, wouldn't it be amazing if they could stop half-assing SS's paint and just do a fully-painted one that looks like ROM's finish? Nah, not when they can just do his head and one red design on his chest and call it a day.

Yeah I loved all the reveals from the gamerverse line today. I guess that justifies all of the street fighter and mega man figures I picked up from Jada a few months ago. Now I have a good 16 v 16 character roster at least if we also include cable, marrow, blackheart, iron man w/ pulse cannon, sabretooth and vhs cyclops? This is a great start. And getting Shuma right out of the gate is incredible

The "elbrows" as originally implemented were terrible, I agree. Hasbro as since improved them on beefier characters with a bigger... elbow ball... area... to allow for very-close to full double jointed range. As someone else pointed out, Wolverine could never reach the same range as say... Spider-Man in the arms because of the size of his forearm. Even those poses they had him in the stream were the maximum I'd need/want. I don't need his claws coming directly back into his chest straight on. Very excited to get my hands on this figure... and curious if the yellow's match with any previous figures. I love head-swapping potential. Heck, if the Cap's blues match the Secret Wars version, then I have a neutral head option for that scale armor one. Options are great.

X-Men 97 Cyclops with the VHS head is the easiest path... only have a minimal amount of paint apps to remove with Goof Off :)

Fair enough. The old double elbows on him were a bit clunky, and these will certainly look better in straight arm poses. I'm wondering if he has articulation under his belt for his waist. The articulation from the stream almost looks like they're using a ball peg:

I imagine this guy is going to get a Maximum release on this buck within a year, for those who don't want to buy SS. Maybe they'll even add toe joints.
