Marvel Legends 2026, how it started, how it's going

Half way point check in. How is your ML buying for the year? Favorites? Regrets? Hopes? Most looking forward to? What do you have on preorder?

I told myself my goal is to buy no more than 10 Marvel Legends this year. So far I am at 6: Cardiac, WWII Logan, Spider-Man 299, Strong Guy, X-23 (movie), and Daredevil Secret Wars. If the average of one figure per month continues I won't make my goal, BUT there's nothing really on the horizon that is blowing my mind.

I'm happy with my 6, I think they all bring something to the table, but my favorite by quite a bit is Cardiac. X-23 is a close 2nd.

The only thing I have on preorder is Magik and if I was hearing reviews saying that this is a high-effort, A+ release, I'd really be looking forward to her. Unfortunately.....

I'm hoping for a 97 Jubilee in her standard look and whatever cast members from the original 2000 X-Men movie show up in Avengers Doomsday.

How's your ML 2026 going?
 
I've continued my completest ways, and also bought a few multiples. After getting rid of nearly 1000 figures at the end of last year, I'm getting much less grief about it :)

Some standouts for me so far are the brown/tan movie Wolverine, Blade (with a comic coat added), classic Falcon and SW Daredevil. I'm pretty excited for the mech Punisher, which I had zero excitement for - but now that reviews are rolling out it looks great.

The new Archangel is a good upgrade for the Jim Lee team, and I'm happy with the head swaps I've made to make him look more comic book-y.

I've been disappointed most by the Secret Wars symbiote Spider-Man (mainly that it wasn't a red/blue release on AF15) and Constrictor. Constrictor just needed proper deco on his back to be a great replacement/update. To me he just feels very unfinished.
 
Things got tight for us in 2025, so I all but stopped buying figures around August (with a few small exceptions - basically just a few things I didn't think would be accessible later). Things have stabilized a bit the last few months so I've been picking up a lot of what I missed last year, as well as a few new releases. Most of this is from sales or second hand, except for the very new stuff.

Falcon, Abomination, and Spider-Man '77 are on the way.

It's a pretty incredible run of figures to me - tons of characters I'm excited to get for the first time, and most of them done pretty well. Those first two (Cardiac and Man-Wolf) were the first things I bought in months back in February, and they're still on my desk - the sweet spot of obscure + very well executed. I actually haven't opened a lot of this stuff yet - I tend to go through phases where I just amass unopened figures to save for a rainy day. Gets me in trouble sometimes when there's a QC issue on something I bought 6 months before.

I'm feeling pretty damn enthusiastic about the line these days, though the surprise premium on Samson today has thrown me for a loop. If not for that and the continued lack of lower ball joints (and lower waist articulation in general on most female figures) I wouldn't have much bad to say.
 
The only Legends I've bought so far that are in-hand have been Cardiac and Mystique. Both were impulse buys that I kind of regret. Neither is a bad figure, but neither was really necessary for my collection either. I do have Archangel in my Pile of Loot and I plan on getting the 97 Beast and hope to get the 97 Xavier and hoverchair. The 97 line is where I'm trying to limit my purchases, but I do have an eye towards Gamerverse if something fun should surface there. I guess I'm a little disappointed that the approach Hasbro took with Gamerverse Wolverine hasn't really shown up in other figures since.

I also have Mephisto and Apocalypse ordered. Mephisto I bought for the base, but I'm legitimately looking forward to that Apocalypse. He looks real good. Hopefully that one makes it out in 2026.

These two and Professor Hulk are the only ML I have on preorder for the rest of the year. Plenty more I'm looking forward to, though.

Honestly, I’m surprised that I bought that many. Not because there’s anything wrong with the product, but because I’m trying to wind it down and be more selective. Having said that, there have been no “wasted purchases”. Every figure on that list is a figure I truly wanted.
 
I don't know how many, but it's not much compared to how I used to be. Part selection, part self curation.

I cannot remember what MLs came out this year. I know 2025 was fantastic for me.

Edit: Looks like some of my favorites were from 2025 like Extremis Iron Man vs Mandarin; Executioner BAF wave; Inhumans sets, etc.

I think standouts this year have been:

Nimrod (redo with better torso movement), Absorbing Man,

So no Iron Man yet this year, which means this year hasn’t been very good for me…

Nothing else on the remainder of the 2026 rumor/leak list is of interest to me, well at least at full price. Maybe Mole Man but the set will have to knock my socks off at full price.

I am trying to recalibrate my Legends collection and have been slowly going through what I have to get down to a more manageable collection than "everything"- so have been holding off on too many figures unless fully new characters or looks that complete a team or era.

So far this year I think it has just been Grizzly and Owl? Have Marrina and Robbie Reyes on pre-order, and Smart Hulk, the Future Foundation and Outback Psylocke and will likely add Doc Samson. A few more have been announced I will get, and will need to pre-order Magik now that it looks like with Cypher they might be doing the New Mutants correctly finally.
 
I'm still at zero for the year. I passed on all the Secret Wars at Walmart and Target (Falcon, DD, and Magik are likely later buys). My only preorder is Gamerverse Punisher.
