Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

I do love Army of Darkness!!
And the modern Evil Dead films are fantastic. I can’t pick between the Alvarez film and Rise. They both rock.

Bunk was the best.

If they had just emphasized more the corruption of the Darkhold on Wanda or introduced like Nightmare corrupting and utilizing her as a weapon that might have taken the sting off. Wanda as the continually tragic character is right out of the comics. Accentuate her tragedy more and her villainy less.

MoM was also just too much “chocolate in my peanut butter” for me. Like Strange got ONE solo movie and every other appearance has been as or with Special Guest Star(s). Like Cap, he’s essentially been in ensemble pieces since his first film, and that’s a bit of a bummer for me.

You could kinda say the same about Tom Holland's Spidey too- he always seems to have to share the spotlight with another big name. I don't necessarily blame the MCU for doing it- without these little appearances here and there, some actors would have to go half a decade or more without appearing again (some already do- poor Simu Liu). I'm all for characters appearing in other heroes' movies, but definitely agree it should be a cameo or supporting role at best.

I think of Raiimi's Spider-Man as Amazing Spider-Man, the middle trilogy as Web of Spider-Man and the MCU Spider-Man as Marvel Team Up.

Agreed, they needed to make the narrative clearer that the Darkhold was like the One Ring (sort of) or Dark Side of the Force (sort of) in that it was going to corrupt her and exacerbate her worst instincts given her grief and PTSD about Vision and the "kids". Honestly if not for seeing the Darkhold in Agents of Shield (as I don't generally follow the mystic/magic comics) I am not sure I would have fully understood its significance. Amazing given Raimi rose to fame about the impact of an evil book, yet he never made the book itself seem like a threat or presence I felt.

I am still not sure if we were supposed to sympathize with her or not - I feel like they tried to have it both ways, make her seem like an unhinged, even evil, threat but also play on the "I hope she gets out from under the Darkhold" path the redemption, and in the process didn't pick a lane.

Having it be personified via Nightmare (whom I believe was rumored and possibly in earlier drafts?) or even tying back to Dormammu would have been cool.

That's hilarious.... but there are definitely some figures I want so badly that I don't care how they're used in the movies, just have them on screen in such a way that a figure is made.

Don't know if I knew there'd be magic involved. Like, I think I did- with the Hood, and all- but I don't think I put together it would be the same stuff as Dr. Strange. Sorta reminds me of the unused concept art from Endgame of Strange using the Iron Man armor.

I wouldn't say I'm excited for Ironheart, but I'm definitely curious to see how it turns out.

Can't say that trailer excited me too much. But interesting they are integrating the tech and mystical stuff here, given Doom is known for both as well.

Unrelated, but I got thinking about Tony Stark and the final snap given the discussion about him being selfish/arrogant/controlling in Fletch's thread - I wonder if some part of Tony maybe subconsciously in his "wish" to end Thanos had a brief thought of wanting to survive as well, and that created Doom, a version of him that didn't evolve into a good person but instead a bad one? Or do we think Doom will never be unmasked to look like Stark? Or maybe Doom is Stark from another Universe?
