Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

Hot Toys is kinda infamous for revealing or alluding to figures and then never releasing them. It's not a ton, but there's a definite list of things they showed off and just never released, or teams they've left incomplete
Ah, I never noticed that. Not saying you're wrong, I genuinely never noticed. I collected Hot Toys for a little while, but couldn't get more than 8 or so, especially since one was the Hulk, and Legends seemed to be going all in on the MCU stuff so I switched. But haven't paid a lot of attention to them since Age of Ultron or so.
I wouldn't be surprised to see that some of these companies may have made the whole team
I assume Funko is one. Sometimes I REALLY wish I could appreciate those, but they just aren't for me.
I'm sure Marvel wanted to keep it secret that certain characters weren't around much, so they probably just sent over all the materials to Hasbro, Sideshow, etc.
Probably yeah. But what difference does it make? Just make her!
Especially if it's something that changed a bit later in production, as it seems to have, then I can see them being unaware that Marvel basically nixed one of the characters.
That's one thing that gives me hope. Sometimes we get the wrong version of someone based on concept art, how about this time we get a figure?
I feel like Bucky and Ghost are givens, like others have said, but not sure on any others.
Yeah, they have to at least give us those. but if that's all we're getting now, were they held back to hide that we aren't getting Taskmaster?
If they did happen to do them all, though, a wave might be the best bet, versus more 2 packs.
Agreed. I proposed earlier just going ahead and mixing with some comic figures. I'm sure the comic guys would like a wee bone.
Ghost seems to be the least favorite of the team as of now; not a knock against her, per se, she just had the least to do and got the least amount of development (I really liked her, though).
I've seen people kinda hating on Ghost as a character and I don't get it. Did she really do much to hate on? I guess one thing but come on.

But I liked her too. She was dry and I felt that was needed to balance Red Guardian, heh.
She, along with Bucky to an extent, were the straight men to the comedic antics of the others.
Good point.
So depending on who you were to pair up with who, the pack may not sell quite as well; and, given that there's more or less 5 characters left to do, it would mean someone not being included.
I still see Void as being a good one for a store exclusive. I assume Katy means Target would say no thank you to Val though.
So a wave, with a somewhat important BAF, might be the way to go, or just a normal Spiderverse/NWH-esque wave on cardbacks without BAF parts.
Agreed again. They could really easily do a wave like the NWH one with the five obvious ones, but also include Walker with beret and taco or something. That wave had MJ and Matt Murdock, so I don't think a Val is such a stretch there.

That looks pretty sweet! Where'd you find those shots, Ru? I always dig seeing prototypes to see how much the figure changes with paint and all that. Would be cool if Dan or someone on the team could show us the protos from time to time, not only to detail the process, but give us updates on where things are at with production.

Marvelousnews had them, which was cool because I don't remember them posting stuff like that much if at all.

Weren't these pics shared by the sculptor? The post also said Alexie is all-new "from the hips up."

I'm hoping Hasbro will make Ghost, but I figured this would be the week to debut her and Bucky or Val or whoever. So I've started thinking about parts and I'm thinking - would a Black Series Fennec Shand be a good base? Wipe all the color from the costume, use the unmasked head from Ghost's first release and start there? I don't have those figures near me to see if the headswap is even close to passable.

Yes, and ah damn. That's what I get for skimming.

The silhouette looks right at least, but I haven't looked at Ghost's costume too hard to see how well the details match(the shape of the skirt, vest, etc).

Got me the last Black Suit Spidey at a sorta out-of-the-way GameStop today. That $5 coupon definitely helped the cost a bit. Haven't opened him up yet, but I'm happy to have him. Are there any suited bodies that would work to put the unmasked head on? ie black shirt, no tie, etc.? I'm not that picky, I'm cool to pick up a cheapy suited Legends and headswap, but the added black definitely helps with the "emo-ness".

Stopped by the nearby Target afterward and there were only 2 Legends on the shelf, one of which was Kro from Eternals, which wasn't there before. They must've done some deep digging in the back and found him there! Now that I think about it, I should've grabbed him to see if he'd even scan at the price checker. 😅

@joshsquash Wow, finding Kro at Target at this point seems crazy! I bought an army of him when he was like $8 a lot of places on clearance. Deviants all over the place! I actually loved that movie and the entire Legends line for the movie and I'm not even a MCU collector.

I broke my Kro recently - he kept toppling over the set-up I was trying to do and I got mad and smashed him on the floor. He showed me - his leg snapped at the thigh cut. I glued it back in place and joke's on him - he hasn't fallen since.

My Kro hasn't had any standing issues. But I have him in the back part of the display against the back of the shelf, so maybe that's helping

Curious to hear your opinions- for those of you who've also purged parts of your MCU collections, which versions did you keep/would deem more necessary-

Which version of Killmonger did you keep- the sorta tactical suit or the panther suit?

Regarding Vision- did you keep white Vision or OG pink/green Vision? I know there's a pretty good chance we'll get white Vision again in the future wave for his show, but as to how different it'll be from the current one, who knows?

And the Guardians- vol. 2 individual looks or the matching vol. 3 uniforms? Or a mix of both? They're the ones I have perhaps the hardest time with; I love them all, but each version of the team takes up an entire shelf that I could potentially use for others. Still tempted to keep both, but I dunno.

I went kinda extreme and also laid out specific rules for myself (which I've since broken, of course). Enjoying the movie no longer meant getting figures from it, my marvel stuff is supposed to be the movie versions of comic characters I loved and connected with, mostly as a kid but stuff like Daredevil an Dark Avengers are favorites from when I got back into comics for a few years as an adult.

So I actually didn't keep any of the guardians, but if I had, it would have been the GoTG2 versions. The matching uniforms really didn't work for me. Vision I kept the white one since that was my favorite version as a kid. Killmonger and other villains I wasn't familiar with from the comics, I didn't keep either.

But I'm gonna break my rules with the Thunderbolts, specifically Red Guardian. I guess I already did with Ms Marvel though.

Omg how do you guys come to purge the collection.? Don’t you get sad after getting rid of them? I am a crack addict at heart and continue to strive for the 100% MCU completion goals.

Years ago around civil war time I recall selling my blue suit Captain America from CA TWS and then feeling such fomo for years that I’d given him up - especially when the suit made a cameo in Endgame that I ended up re purchasing one for a much higher price than I originally had! I also never forgive myself for giving away the no sunglasses agent Coulson head sculpt to trade for something at the time years ago.

Yeah this crack addiction is bad …. But I love it!

I'd never say you're wrong, obviously collecting is a personal experience and you gotta go after what makes you happy. And having everybody makes total sense. I just know myself, AND I have limited space. Getting down to one of everyone was a HUGE step for me, but it was necessary (except for Spiderman, Iron Man, Daredevil, Black Widow, and Black Panther... But I'm working on that).
