Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

One thing I noticed about both versions of Johnny is that he has some sort of a wrist band around his left arm. I checked the other figures online and Sue also has one on her left wrist, and Ben and Reed have one on their right wrist.

I'm guessing whatever that band does is some sort of plot point in the movie.

Maybe they're the 4's version of Kimoyo beads.

Johnny and Surfer initially got pushed back to Thursday, but now they and Reed shipped and should be here today. Torch got pushed back though and is still due Thursday. Normally I'm cool getting a wave piecemeal so as to be able to appreciate each individual one, but if ever there was a wave I wanted to ship together, it was this one. Ah, well.

For those who've managed to get both so far- can Johnny use any of Torch's hands? I'd assume so, since they're probs the same body, but does it look alright? That's what I was planning on to "add a little zip".

Yes, they're swappable. The fire pieces around Johnny's wrists below are separate from the hand, and they're new pieces that are different from the twirly fire pieces that come with Johnny himself. Those new pieces come with the Torch version already on the figure. I didn't realize they were separate until I took the hand off and one of those new pieces fell off.

Another thing of note is that the fire bits on Torch are mostly glued down. The calf fire pieces aren't glued, but the foot keeps them on. The bits on the tops of the feet are glued. The one around his neck on his back appears to be glued as far as I can tell. The bits on the back of his hand are glued also.

Thanks, EC! I think he looks really good with those Torch hands. I'll probably swap at least one onto the figure for a little pop of color.

For me, I don't care about getting the wave this week or not. What irritates me is getting 4 items in 4 different packages. It's a pet peeve of mine. I wouldn't care about getting 4 figures now and 2 later or whatever. That's fine, but it is turning into 6 packaged at this rate. Just ugh

Got Johnny, Reed, and Surfer. Johnny and Surfer were paired together and Reed was in his own envelope, but all 3 came in great condition. Johnny and Surfer had some paper in the box to help pad a bit- been ages since I've seen that!

Only messed around a little with them so far, but I really like them. Johnny is the simplest; there's probably the least to say with him. I think if they'd given him anything else, it would've been nice, but he's very simple. Torchie doesn't come until tomorrow, but I'm sure he'll look even more plain next to him. It's still not a superb Joseph Quinn likeness, but I will say it's better in person and from certain angles.

Reed is nice. The arms are sturdy and strong, kinda like NWH Doc Ock's tentacles. Would've been nice to be able to switch out the hands on the stretchy arms, but I don't know if that would effect the structural integrity of the plastic or whatever. It's a small nit, though; otherwise he's really fun. A little topheavy depending on how you pose the arms, but nothing too bad.

I'm really surprised with how much I enjoy Silver Surfer. The poseability is, pun fully intended, fantastic. She can get into all sorts of crazy poses. Ironically the one place she's a bit hindered is her head because of the hair, but she seems rather stoic anyway. I also really dig the very slight, subtle wash to her. I could stand for it to be a little more noticeable, but I definitely appreciate when it catches the light. The surfboard and blast effect make for a really cool display.

I gotta hand it to Hasbro- they easily could've made Reed and Surfer deluxe figures (Thing too, I'd imagine, but I don't have him yet)- would've felt like a bit of a ripoff, but Falcon and Cap didn't really feel like they needed to be deluxes either. It's been a while since a figure and its accessories took up the bulk of the box, so that was really fun to see. Really excited to get Torchie tomorrow, and to finish up the wave in a week or so.

I now have shipping for Johnny and Surfer. Torch still says coming tomorrow, but hasn't shipped. So he ain't coming tomorrow lol!

Torch might get updated, but it won't arrive tomorrow. Johnny Storm appears like it will. Surfer says it's coming tomorrow, but they opted for UPS, and they suck in my area. So I am expecting that based on what I am seeing in the system to come Thursday instead.
