Marvel Cinematic Universe Figure Discussion

I wish I knew what the longterm plan was for the X-Men cause my desire to get THESE X-Men is very effected by that. If they're one off, then who cares? Doom I will imagine is getting a bunch of figures between the 2 movies. FF I imagine will have new costumes, but I want the First Steps FF anyway. So yeah, not a lot of one's I would deem essential for me as of now.

@erock That makes total sense, and I don't blame you at all. And stuff like that is exactly why I've stopped worrying about things like that. Whatever X-Men I get from now on, they're gonna be on the shelf with DP&W Wolverine, DP2 Colossus, and McAvoy & Fassbender, so I don't even care anymore heh. They're on my Secret Wars shelf with Quantumania Wasp, Marvel Select Daredevil (that I shortened)*, Homecoming Spider-Man, Disney Plus Hawkeye, Endgame Hulk with a better head, Black Widow Black Widow (with 2012 Avengers hair)**, Endgame Cap and Iron Man, Disney Plus She-Hulk, Dark World Thor, and Marvels Monica... it's not completely weird having most of those together, but they also shouldn't be together at all. So, throwing in the Pascal FF team along with Doomsday Marsden and Cumming, along with post-multiverse new cast Rogue, Storm, and Kitty Pryde*** won't bother me.

* I know Daredevil wasn't in the 80s comic series, but he was in the toyline! I want Sam in there too!
**I know Black Widow wasn't in the 80s comic series, but I really wanted the original six movie Avengers together on the shelf and I wasn't going to keep a second set of the other five fellas on another shelf just for that.
*** I know Kitty wasn't in the 80s comic series, and neither was Sue, but both were members of their teams at the time but left behind.

That said... if I were you, I would probably not buy any returning mutant figures and just hold out for the likely post-Secret Wars reboot. Not definite, but I really feel like the next two Avengers movies are Feige's farewell to the movies he cut his teeth on, then they will have an all new cast.

I have a multiverse shelf where all the What If guys and the existing Fox and non-MCU movie figures I have are. But as things go up, my purse strings are just going to be tighter. I do hope Doomsday affords the opportunity for some non-made characters to get their due. At this point, this Saga will end when we are about ready for a 2028 line for the 20th Anniversary of Marvel Studios

Amazon sent me a notification that emo Tobey is coming Tuesday. Very excited for this figure actually.

As far as I've heard, bringing the Fox X Men back is a one and done thing, and this is sort of a farewell to them. With most of them 50 or older, it's pretty touch-and-go anyway. Then again, they've said that before and they keep bringing them back, so who really knows? For me, the Fox X-Men are a crucial enough part of my youth and love of superheroes that I'd gladly take them in updated plastic form on my shelf, no matter their role in Doomsday. Heck, I'd even take more 2nd gen X-Men besides just the McAvoy and Fassbender we've gotten. I have a little section of the Legends shelf with all the non-MCU Marvel movie figures- Venom, X-Men, Deadpool, etc., and they'd fit right in.

Has anyone splurged and purchased this from Etsy?

I want it very, very much.

I've seen that Cerebro thing on a couple Etsy pages, I think, and it's an active struggle not to purchase it each time. I mean, do I really need 2 kidneys when I could have a Legends-scale Cerebro on my wall?! The goal is to one day have a house with a big enough basement that I can do a bunch of dioramas- for X-Men, it would be the X-Mansion, Genosha, Danger Room, whatever, I'm not picky.

JayC on marvelousnews says the FF wave probably won't have a baf but Herbie may be a packin somehow. He also says the six figures will be the four, a flamed on Torch, and the Silver Surfer.

I think I'll be grabbing these even though I don't typically collect MCU these days. My MCU figures have been relegated to the tops of my bookcases and there is no lighting up there so I don't pay much attention to them but I have a cube storage shelf with 8 slots in it in the living room, currently with board games and a couple of Lego sets in it and I'm thinking about lighting those up and doing one MCU film per cube.

I'd love to have the Fantastic Four as one and I'm thinking Spider-Man NWH as another since I have Electro coming. That leaves 6 others to decide what to do with...

Wasn't there a rumored invisible Sue as well? I suppose she could always be a store exclusive. Though, I wouldn't mind something kinda in-between. The half-transparent Sue from that first movie was the coolest one in my opinion. I'm mostly just curious as to what sort of accessories they'll all come with, and how that'll effect the price. Ben doesn't seem to be too huge, so not enough to warrant a deluxe. Hoping for at least an energy effect for Sue; for non-flame Johnny, maybe just those little flame/energy effects you can wrap around his arms? Flame-on Johnny could certainly warrant a deluxe release, but it doesn't seem like they're going that route. The biggest curiosity is how stretchy Reed will be- I doubt they'll include any crazy comic-y shapes, but how many long limbs will we get? Will it just be a single long arm, or will it be like NWH Sandman was, and just 2 swappable large hands? It's crazy to look back at that first movie's figures and see the basic Reed that came with all those swappable limbs and realize he was the same price as every other figure back then. Today that would be like a super mega deluxe, and even then it would probably come with like half of what that first one did.

Half invisible Sue is the best way to do the character, especially if that's the only one you are doing. It is my preferred look for her. I've never been a fan of the completely clear figures because of all the inner workings you see and they never have much shelf presence.

Yes
I suppose she could always be a store exclusive
That would make sense, since we're just learning about the wave so far.

And yeah, I'd prefer a partly clear Sue, and just arms on Reed would be fine. I had the Reed from the old movies with the long, stretchy limbs,.I think he came with Thing? But he was almost too much as far as fitting on the shelf.

Hey everyone! So cool to see fellow MCU enjoyers!

I’m hoping the Doomsday delay gives them time to do some really cool figures. I’ve narrowed down figures to one definitive version for the shelf, and with Doom as an obvious in, I’m hoping the rest will be a good figure for each of the Fox X-Men coming back so I can put them with the already released movie XMen, and the rumored Deadpool and Wolverine figures coming. Also really hope they give us Bucky and Ghost from the Thunderbolts movie. All of those, plus the fantastic four already confirmed, and I pretty much will be satisfied shelf wise. I’m choosing Secret Wars to be my jumping off point for both figure collecting and as a die hard MCU fan, so I really hope they go all out for figures. Obviously it will be hard to tell what we get for Secret Wars, but my main hope is that Nicholas Cage Ghost Rider will be back so he can be my Ghost Rider for the collection! As a kid who grew up with those pre MCU movies and the actual MCU, these would be my preferred versions, probably won’t bother with anything post rumored reboot of the MCU, though Notable exceptions to that rule would be any cinematic Spidey Villains! (Come on Scorpion, Kraven, and ASM2 rhino!)
