Marvel 1/6 Scale (Mondo, Hot Toys, etc.)

How often do wait lists get fulfilled on the Sideshow website?

I'm kicking around the idea of joining the wait list for the Hot Toys Iron Man 2 Black Widow. I'm looking ahead to a year with almost no anticipation for anything on the action figure front and I need to fill a void :)
I would say MOST of the time if you're on a waitlist you'll have another shot to purchase. You're mostly waiting on other people's opt outs, card declines, or just additional order sizes to adapt. Some stuff with numbered limit size you have less likelihood of getting. But if it's not a limited edition size then you'll usually get an email with your shot. Now if you miss that then that's typically it.

For anyone on the fence with Sinister, the EE deal gets rid of the tariff surcharge and the shipping. He's $4 more than Mondo retail, but also, what, $50 bucks cheaper?

Really wish I could!

Cool, thanks.

Now a question about that IM2 Black Widow specifically, if anyone knows:

There is a collector edition and a special edition, both are priced at $385. The collector edition comes with an Iron Man glove and is limited to 4,000. The special edition has no Iron Man glove and is limited to 2,000. It seems weird that the one with extra stuff is made in double the quantity. I don't care about the extra IM glove, they are both the same price, but given the different quantities, am I better off getting on a wait list for one than the other?

Probably. Went back and looked to find I paid a $24 tariff charge plus a $32 shipping charge to get Sinister from Mondo. After taxes he was $339. That one sucked.

They have strongly hinted that Cable and Bishop are going to be part of this line. I would guess Bishop is next,

I hope his exclusive is a harmonica for the buyer, as well as an electronic base that plays the harmonica motif whenever he shows up.

Cool, thanks.

If you don't have to be on the waitlist for something and you don't care about a negligible accessory I'd probably take stock of WHY you want the figure in the first place. If you're having to ask all these questions to justify the purchase do you really want/need it that badly or it's just an impulse buy? If there's no real difference between the 2 versions and you KNOW you don't want to miss it, I'd get the preorder over the waitlist if it just comes with an accessory that's going to stay in the box / a drawer.

Sideshow has two editions of one figure for the same price where the only difference seems to be one accessory, and the one with the extra accessory is produced in higher quantities. Asking if there are any other, less obvious differences that might lead one to want one edition over the other is a reasonable question. Let’s be honest, Sideshow’s different editions are sometimes confusing.

Without knowing if there any other differences, my answer would be to just wait list for both. Whichever one is offered first, buy it. Being on the wait list does not obligate you to buy anything,

FYI, I am waitlisted for this figure as well, and was already given two options to purchase months ago. I didn't pull the trigger because of the total price. Seeing in-hand pictures, I semi regret the decision, but I guess my point is that I don’t know if this going to come up for wait list purchases again months later. However, you have nothing to lose by putting your name on the list.
