Marvel 1/6 Scale (Mondo, Hot Toys, etc.)

They have strongly hinted that Cable and Bishop are going to be part of this line. I would guess Bishop is next, but they may want to do another villain first (or not, since Sinister has yet to sell out his limited allotment). I don't think Apocalypse is off the table and actually think he is likely at some point. He won't be as big as he could be, but his size varied a lot in the show (literally). There's a shot in the episode "Come the Apocalypse" where he's not much taller than Archangel. I think they'd do him around the same size as Mumm-Ra. Mystique is probably the next villain they do since she's easier and was prominent enough in the show to warrant one. Juggernaut is another possibility. I think Xavier will be sort of like a capper to the line. They may keep doing figures beyond him if the sales are there, but he's going to be expensive sort of like their She-Ra with Swiftwind set. I just need Beast, Jean, and Morph to feel content with the collection I have. I'd probably go for an Apocalypse as well as he, Magneto, and Sinister are what I consider "The Big 3" when it comes to villains of the era (even if Magneto was barely a villain in the show).

Beast will be going up for sale a week from tomorrow. Mondo has the gallery up and there's only one semi-crouch pose so I'm starting to doubt he can get into that crouch we all want. He'll be $255 (cheaper than Sinister, at least) and limited to 1,500 units. No indication right now what would be cut for the standard edition. Cute shout out to showrunner Eric Lewald with the title of the book.

Beast is up for preorder. The tariff hit is $23 and the shipping is $22. Ouch.

They showed the torso for Jean. All very detailed and correctly cel shaded. Looks great. Will take a lot of restrain to withhold purchasing this one. Beast is nice and I'd buy his deluxe, but for some reason I'm not feeling it right now and these things take up so much space.

Anyone watch the Toy Talk for Beast?

I watched it. No Q&A this week which was a bummer. They did reveal that Beast has drop-down hips - a first for the line. I'm not a fan of such a design, but if it works to get him into a crouch I'll accept it.

Any mention of timing for Jean going up for sale?

No, just that she's next. With Beast just going up, I'd guess next quarter sometime.

Not sure on the time code, probably four fifths of the way through. They just showed an image of her torso being painted. They did it just before moving onto the trivia portion.

Also, not sure if anyone noticed, but looks like Mondo unloaded the unsold Sinister stock on BBTS. He was limited and never sold out. I'd guess it's unlikely he gets a standard release as a result.

Kind of surprising Mondo is doing that. Have they don’t that in the past?

Not a good sign for the B-list characters, particularly Morph, in my opinion. I personally really, really want Morph, so hope this doesn’t affect their plans.

I'm not aware of them doing this before with the line, but I also don't think a limited edition ever failed to sell out. Sinister was the most expensive release in the line so I think it's more likely their take-away is that they now know the limits their consumer base will go financially with most releases in this line. They have been very happy with the performance on the whole and one of the talking points on the stream last night was that once Jean is out there they can go crazy with more "out there" selections and even teased one for San Diego this year.

Sounds like we’re getting like a Longshot or Colossus as a construction worker figure.

I hope not! I’d rather have a new character that’s out there and not a costume variation (besides getting Pryde of the X-Men Storm, which isn’t out there at all in my opinion).

How often do wait lists get fulfilled on the Sideshow website?

I'm kicking around the idea of joining the wait list for the Hot Toys Iron Man 2 Black Widow. I'm looking ahead to a year with almost no anticipation for anything on the action figure front and I need to fill a void :)
