MAFEX Marvel Figures

I received Spider-Man 2099 from Hobby Genki today. It's great, as expected. I love the interchangeable backs and web configurations with their individual articulation. I've always loved the costume design (presuming it was Leonardi who actually designed it as well as drawing the early comics), and it looks fantastic with sculpted lines. I just wish they were slightly more emphasized. Overall, I'm very happy with the figure (and with Hobby Genki).

I was hoping to ship Rogue with Tobey Spidey when she released, but the tariff date is bearing down fast and I need to ship him before I have to pay an additional tax when he hits. I'm more excited for Rogue than anything else on the horizon, but I won't be buying it with a 25% tax added (or is it 54% for goods made in China?)

This sucks. I think I'm still going to buy 75% of what I planned to buy, but now it comes at a massive markup for no reason.

I set aside $100 for MAFEX's Robin. What's it actually going to cost?

The tariffs apply to the country the item is being imported from, so that's Japan and from what I can find Trump is boosting whatever their tariff rate is now by 24%. Japan has chosen to actively negotiate to get that rate down so by the time the next Mafex figure ships it may be lower or never go into effect at all.

Most countries have tariffs on foreign countries, and I'm guessing Japan has one on China and whatever cost that is has already always been incorporated into the cost of Mafex figures.

It would be lovely if I could complete my Mafex The Boys figures so that is good to hear.

Got my Tobey Spidey (looks pretty great in-person) and 2099 on Monday. Kind of wrapping up on Spider variants with Mafex; between their releases and a few MLs to fill the gaps, I've just about satisfied my nostalgia for the 2000 Spider-Man game's alternate costume lineup. Outside of that, would maybe buy the Kaine Parker Scarlet Spider.

Interesting choices. I really don't mind the DCEU releases, even if that franchise is "dead." They're at least very nice figures with neat accessories.

Wakanda Forever was pretty rough, and not a huge fan of Shuri's suit in the movie. Would rather get the Civil War T'Challa or T'Chaka they showed off. All the same, I'm glad they're doing more MCU characters.

Is Rogue still set to go out next week? I haven't seen any pics of her on display at the MAFEX store - they normally do that ahead of a release, right?

Yes they do, and Kaiju Daddy lives near the store so he usually posts a Youtube video once they put a new figure up for display. They also usually put a pic up of the new release on their Twitter feed within a day or two of them showing up in the store, but no sign of Rogue or any of the other April releases yet.

Rogue is now officially pushed off until May. I haven't seen them push off a one month delay in a while so the safe bet is she does come next month. They frequently delay things by two months, so when they only push a figure by one month it's usually almost ready to ship.

Medicom also posted the April releases overnight--three Star Wars figures, one Michael Jordan, and Superboy. Superboy is the only real original release there since the others are variants of already-released figures.

If Rogue doesn't get delayed again I might have to risk the wrath of the AmiAmi gods and cancel her. I really want her but I can't afford a 145% tariff on her
