Dear Backers,
We want to start by thanking you for your incredible support over the last week. Jason and I have been closely monitoring recent developments regarding tariff increases, and after much deliberation, we have come to a difficult decision regarding our campaign.
As many of you may be aware, recent policy changes have significantly increased tariffs on goods imported from China. These new policies impose an additional 35% tariff on top of the existing 20%, meaning we now face over 50% in tariffs on our manufacturing costs. Unfortunately, this cost is not absorbed by China—it directly impacts us as manufacturers and, ultimately, you as backers.
When we originally budgeted for this campaign, the tariffs were at 10%, which we accounted for in our pricing. As we approached launch, we prepared for a possible increase to 20% by outlining our policy on tariffs in the campaign . However, with the recent changes, the financial burden has become far greater than anticipated, forcing us to reevaluate our ability to move forward.
To put this into perspective:
If our production cost for a figure is $10, the new tariff increases that cost to $15. That’s in addition to licensing fees, internal production costs, tooling and distribution.
With our original pricing model a figure was $25, but with this new increase we would need to add an additional $5 per figure, plus shipping and handling.
This means a single figure would now cost roughly $40 for backers once all tariff and shipping & handling fees are factored in. (And we still wouldn’t know what the true final cost will be until a year from now!)
We don’t believe this is a fair price for the type of figure we are producing, and we know many of you would share our concerns. Given these circumstances, we have made the incredibly tough decision to cancel the Kickstarter campaign.
We had high hopes for this line and have invested a great deal of time and effort into securing the necessary licenses and fine-tuning these figures. However, with so much financial uncertainty, we do not feel comfortable moving into production under these conditions. If the situation stabilizes in the future, we may explore the possibility of relaunching. However, it’s important to note that our existing licensing agreements may not be available at that time.
No one is more disappointed by this outcome than we are, but we remain committed to finding a way to bring these figures to life at some point in the future. We deeply appreciate your enthusiasm, support, and understanding throughout this process.
Thank you for believing in this project as much as we do.
Best,
Bill & Jason

That's a major bummer. That being said, if they shift gears to doing all of these guys at 1/12, I'd probably buy them.

Bummer about the Kickstarter. Hopefully it doesn't extend to the 1:12 Tick Big Bad is soliciting. That figure is a dream come true for me.

Sadly, I think this is the end of the brief resurgence of the Super Powers form factor. Boss Fight canceled the Power Stars Lone Ranger wave due to low sales; rumors has swirled for a while that McFarlane’s Super Powers are not selling well, and I don’t think they go past the rumored Superman movie wave; and now we have the Kickstarter canceled due to tariffs, a Kickstarter that looked like it was already off to a slow start.

I do hope I’m wrong, as Super Powers was the most important toy line of my childhood. I guess time will tell.

They were a very hard sale at the price point. I went back and forth on the wave one Tick offerings, but never pulled the trigger because I just didn't like them enough to spend 20 or 25 bucks on them. I understand they're a small shop and I don't think they were technically overpriced, but I just didn't really want them at that price.
