Last Movie Watched

An American Werewolf in London
Yes, GOAT.
What We Do In The Shadows
I haven't watched the movie in ages, but yeah I should again.
Dog Soldiers
That was such a surprise at the time, and I really appreciated something new.
Ginger Snaps
Yes! The first one was fantastic.
Silver Bullet
I agree that the wolf wasn't stellar but the movie itself was really great. We watched it last October for family movie night and still enjoyed it, as did the kids. Of the others you named, I think I've only ever seen the Howling. I may have to remedy that.

I like Bad Moon, Curse of the Werewolf, the Howling, Silver Bullet (even if the "wolf" is one of the worst designs I've seen) and some of the classic Universal films. It's a shame werewolves and wolf-people usually get the short end of the bone when it comes to Horror.
Howling will always have a place in my heart as it was the first werewolf movie I saw besides the original Wolf Man. I love the design of the wolves in that movie.

Silver Bullet does have a cheesy creature design, but the movie is so good I can overlook it.

By the way, a friend of mine did a comic called "Where Wolf" that has been optioned for a movie. It's a VERY entertaining, and genuinely funny book that I highly recommend about a werewolf that attacks while a convention of Furries are in town:

Last year I got my older boy in to the show. He adored it, and quotes it to this day. While waiting for the last season to drop, we watched the movie. He got a kick out of it, and I got to watch it again. I miss that show now that I remember it's all over.
My 12 year old son loves horror movies now. His entree was FNAF years ago and he hasn't looked back. I keep trying to get him to watch comedic horror like Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Shadows and Shaun of the Dead but he won't even try them. I think he believes the comedy elements take away from it. I'm just going to start watching some of this stuff while he's in the room and he'll be hooked before he even realized I set him up.

Perfect Days- A charming little film by Wim Wenders. There really isn't much of a story, but it is a fascinating slice of life that I quite enjoyed.
I thought about Perfect Days every day for a solid year after I saw it. It's one of the rare pieces of art that actually changed me for the better.

It'd probably make my list of the best films of the century.

I love horror comedy. Such a great subgenre. I think Sam Raimi (particularly Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell) was my entry point. Cabin in the Woods is another one.

All some outstanding horror comedies being mentioned.

I think the original Evil Dead is interesting because it's the 'scariest' of Raimi's trilogy, yet still has plenty of his goofiness.

I’m that horror fan who just . . . really doesn’t like Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. I love Army of Darkness, enjoyed the tv show, and I think the 21st century installations in the franchise are incredible. Then again, I’m mostly a “no” on Raimi in general, except for stuff like The Gift and Drag Me To Hell and such.

My wife and I went and watched a double feature of The Lost Boys and An American Werewolf in London in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery a few weeks back, great flashback to when we rented AWiL and Hammer’s Hound of the Baskervilles to watch in our hotel room in London on our honeymoon.

Watched The Long Walk this weekend and literally ugly-cried through most of it. Wonderful film, spot-on social commentary, maybe TOO real.

That's really interesting. Evil Dead and the sequel are kinda different from each other, but I see Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness as being more similar in tone. Why do you dislike the first two?

I'm mostly a no on Raimi as well, aside from the Evil Dead stuff. I do not enjoy his style with superheroes.

Nice! My brother in law is getting a karaoke machine at his house and I already know I Still Believe is the first song I'm doing. I shall remain shirted though.
I must admit my shame: I've never seen Evil Dead. I'll rectify that oversight.
Just the original?

Oh man...I freakin' LOVE Raimi! Most especially his horror stuff...Evil Dead 2 is one of my all-time favorites! I love the over-the-top horror and comedy blended so perfectly together. Demon-possessed deer heads...we just don't have enough movies with possessed taxidermy!

Some of my favorite Raimi is the shorts he was doing in the very beginning, like the Blind Waiter and such. A lot of gags Evil Dead fans will find familiar but still.

seen. A Simple Plan is probably the closest thing he has to a miss IMO.
Ha! One of the few I really like.

Why do you dislike the first two?
Ehhhh, I try again with them every couple of years because so many people love them, but they just seem pointlessly silly and very much not-scary to me. Like AoD is goofy, but its medieval times and Harryhausen shout-outs and really more directly and explicitly an absurdist comedy. The first two just really bore me and feel shoddy and kitchy in a way I just don’t respond to.
Ultimately I do like many horror comedies, but I’m mostly all about Gothic Horror. I can’t get with the Friday the 13th series or most pure slashers, either.

I do not enjoy his style with superheroes.
I was in my very young 20s when the first Spider-man came out, and afterwards I wrote an impassioned letter to my mother of all people about how much I viscerally disliked it and how let down I was because I love Spidey so much. And I’ll never forgive Raimi for what he did to Doc Ock. Grr.

I've never seen any of them. Looking at his filmography, the only non-Marvel Raimi-directed films I've seen are Darkman, Drag Me to Hell, and A Simple Plan, all of which I enjoyed.
