Last Movie Watched

Nice. I remember one time I did the whole "I know what you're thinking, punk: did he fire all six bullets or only five" monologue from Dirty Harry at work and one of my coworkers said "I wonder how many things I've accomplished while you were watching that movie over and over." But I pointed out I've only seen it once.

But yeah, I dunno... sometimes a movie is enjoyable and I'm really okay letting it end there. Meanwhile I love all the Lethal Weapons.

To be fair with John Wick I'm not really looking for plot or character development. It's all disjointed lore and head shots I don't want to think too harf about. That said, my favorite quote is from the fourth "Friendship means little when it's convenient."

That is fair. I guess to me, like, he avenged his dog and I was content to leave it there heh.
With Bourne Identity, I was happy with the first one and didn't feel they needed another, but they did it and I saw the second one hoping for more of what I enjoyed about the first. I didn't realize that meant killing her off so he could essentially be rebooted. Everything after that, I have purposely forgotten, though I even saw the third one. Couldn't tell you one thing about it.
So I think I'm holding off on Wick for that reason.

What an asshole
There are two times I almost tried ecstacy (I still have never, almost definitely never will now), but the first time was at a party with coworkers from that job (it was Tower Records, fyi) and the hostess asked me to call that guy to ensure he was bringing ecstacy. The conversation went:
"Is Rudy there?"
"This is Rudy."
"Oh hey, Bianca wants to make sure you're bringing ecstacy."
"Ecstacy?"
"Yeah, ecstacy. You know, the illicit street drug?"
Then he muffled the phone to yell at someone and smack him around. That's when I learned my coworker was a junior. He did not bring ecstacy.
But maybe that makes you feel a little better even if what I did was utterly thoughtless and inadvertent.

Wait, there's a 4th movie? FFS I think I just found my treadmill watch today. I like the Wick movies a lot when I'm watching them, but they are quicksilver in my brain, no memory of the story.

Except this part - the single most relatable revenge killing spree in the history of cinema. I, too, would murder half of New York to get to the man who killed my dog.

I'm a Greg Rucka fan, so had read The Old Guard comics as singles when they came out. The first Netflix movie was decent, lots of dialogue directly lifted. So I was moderately looking forward to Old Guard 2 and wow... it's a steaming pile of shit. Like Highlander 2 bringing in aliens level of bad.
I saw this last night with my wife and 17-year old. I 1000% agree with your review. I suggested that the pitch went like this...
Pud #1: People liked "The Old Guard". I have a great idea, let's make a sequel!
Pud #2: Great idea! What's the plot?
Pud #1: What's a plot?

Y'know, I haven't seen Old Guard 2 but all I can say is I hope Rucka got a nice chunk of change for it. Anything that puts money into comics writers' pockets I can get behind, even if the resulting product isn't good. Man, that industry chews you up and spits you out. Get your benjamins anywhere you can.

I thought The Old Guard was a fun way to waste 2 hours. I have not watched 2, and do not plan to watch it. Largely because 1 did not seem like a movie that really needed, properly set up, or warranted a sequel. So I'm just gonna not bother with it, because I'm tired of everything needing to have a sequel.

10 Things I Hate About You. The wife and I both love that movie a lot. God, such a shame to loose Heath Ledger so young. The comic nerds will rightfully point out his Joker performance, but he was just a gifted actor all around. Whatever happened to Julia Styles? Great movie that take me back to those young and carefree days.

I was wondering about Julia Stiles the other day. It looks like her career lost steam shortly after the Bourne series. I always liked her.
