KPop Demon Hunters

I was showing my co-worker these (our daughters were all over the movie) and I realized there is no Derpy Tiger, or Sussie Bird with anyone. Maybe they'll get a two pack release?

I would definitely say that parents who are not collectors themselves still tend to have the '80s/'90s mentality of 'if it's out there to watch, there should be toys for it at the same time.' New Spider-Man cartoon? They're usually right. New Star Wars movie? They're usually right. So the biggest properties on earth are still reinforcing their view that when you create a new piece of media for kids, it should have toys immediately. That's 'normal' to them.

They have so quickly forgotten about Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. That was probably the last thing that kind of blew up like K-Pop Demon Hunters but was unexpected so it went like two years with no legitimate product to buy at all. My daughter was really into it when it was new and yeah.. not being able to buy her even a single action figure or doll sucked very much.
Didn't the first Star Wars catch merchandisers similarly flat-footed? I was too young to remember but I've read that when the movie hit far bigger than expected, there were no toys. Kenner was selling promissory vouchers for the first wave of figures as a stop-gap to pre-emptively cash-in on parents wanting to put something SW-related under the Christmas tree.

Yup. That absolutely happened.

Maybe dwelling on these a bit much, but these reveals really caught me off guard, didn't expect to love them as much as I do. My biggest complaint with most domestic figures that I'm interested in are that they include all the right amounts of accessories, but never the right accessories. Arbitrary screaming and "attack" headsculpts, rather than ones that fully evoke that character's personality. Several general purpose sets of hands, but none necessary for the most iconic poses.

I'll admit I'm overly picky in this regard, but it's great to see figures announced that satiate all of those needs, especially at a satisfactory price.

Mattel is making action figures for K Pop Demon Hunters?! Where can I preorder? My daughters love that movie so much. And they keep playing the songs at my gym. The songs are pretty awesome. L

I can't seem to find more images or line-ups for what's getting released beyond the press release - did I miss something?

Gonna *need* to see/know Derpy and Sussie are locks and exactly how to get them before we buy a single one of these.

But I imagine they will be, so we'll wind up with the entire line. Especially a Saja five pack in demon forms when it gets revealed.

Apparetnly they are going to be on Mattel Creations, but you can't find them on the site. According to a livestream I skimmed from Nostalgia Unboxed from yesterday, they will be sending an email with a link if you've previously ordered from them before. I haven't seen one yet myself.

I can't believe they haven't merchandized the hell out of Derpy yet. If played correctly, he could put up Grogu numbers.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why Mattel would make these online-only and hidden as well. K Pop Demon Hunters was such a hit.

So was there any information at Toy Fair about when these go on sale for people who didn’t buy the dolls on Mattel Creation?

None of the “toy influencers” I follow covered this portion of the Mattel booth, except Pixel Dan who has a 90 second video that seems to cut off suddenly just kinda panning over the display like he was required to show it for exactly that long if he wanted access to the He-Man toys and guys, girls… yuck, amiright?!?!

I finally watched the movie and I need these, as the meme goes Friendship Ended with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Now KPop Demon Hunters is my Best Friend!

Just found some on Forbes.com, of all places. This line must be expected to make serious bank to be getting articles there.

Eight solo releases of the girls and the Soda Pop Saja Boys, plus a two-pack of finale Rumi and Jinu. Individual MSRP is $21.59 and the two-pack $43.19.

Each girl gets a Ramen face, a neutral face, and then a third expression - Rumi is crying (funny), Mira gets mad and Zoey gets her big mouth look - kinda wish she wasn't getting two faceplates of one-off looks, but these look really good. The Final Battle Jinu/Rumi look a little more rough, especially in Pixel Dan's video - but maybe they are! Actually, I think it's that they are shiny while the rest of the figures are matte. I hope the matte look is correct.

But the design of the characters *really* lends itself to Barbies and dolls and those are all looking really accurate, except for Hot Toys where they look too realistic and lose the translation. Also, points to the designers who capitalized on soda cans for the boys and ramen cups for the girls - smart. Hate blind boxed stuff, but that is smart!!

I bought the Funko Pop! Derpy with Sussie and it might scale perfectly with the figures. The pupils are round instead of cat-like, but otherwise this may be a great and cheap way to get the character in the collection.
