JOYTOY 1/18 Scale TMNT

My boys are out for delivery and so is my Mondo Peter and Samhain. This after a pretty sizable Pile of Loot delivery earlier this week has me surrounded by boxes in my basement.

Package has arrived, and about 45 minutes before my Mondo package so I got a chance to crack them open and get some first impressions:

Rahzar: I wish he was a darker brown and the eyes aren't great, but otherwise he's pretty cool. The rocket launcher that's his head is pretty damn bizarre. It looks like a mix of Wile E. Coyote and that squirrel from the Ice Age movies. He's got the same metal barbell hips as Krang and the Triceratons and the detail work is really nice. The car door shield didn't turn that great, but he has so much stuff I can't exactly be upset.

Dirtbag: I think this is the first figure I've ever purchased that came with a wheel barrow. Really nice update to the vintage figure. Multiple axes, has his railgun, and some explosives as well. I like that he has storage for his wrench and knife, though I wish his backpack opened. Seems to be pretty limited as far as articulation goes, especially at the hips. Maybe the most of the line.

Groundchuck: Damn, this bull comes with a ton of stuff! And he has lots of effect parts too which is awesome. He's got the rifle/crossbow which has a blast effect, a missile effect that I think is for his bull horn handgun, plus a lightning effect for his robo horn. I'm not sure what the other gun is supposed to be, but it's another gun. He also has a matador banner and yet another blast effect. Seems like all of the effects are interchangeable too which is cool as I think he shot the missile out of his horn in the NES game. He looks great, though I wish he had a metallic paintjob for his "metal" parts. He's also a little sticky in places and the banner has some black crud on it.

These guys are all big too. Bigger than Bebop and Rocksteady, but obviously not as big as Krang. It's going to be a challenge to make room for them, but I'm up for it. I'm guessing things will be quiet for a little bit since Joy Toy hasn't shown anything else yet.

My biggest complaint so far in the line is that Tokka and Slash are the same damn color. Really wish Slash was a bit darker or more turquoise. I'm considering painting him.

Did you notice that Chuck's right horn pops off, and the "gun horn" can be plugged in instead? I did that and have the missile effect plugged in and it looks pretty rad!

Yeah, did that right away. I don’t know if the regular one will ever go back in!

Does the red flag port in anywhere on him or is it just meant to be held? I can't seem to find a spot but there is a lot going on with him and I've been known to overlook obvious things.

I couldn’t find one either, though I guess it could be just kind of jammed in somewhere.

Y'think they're gonna re-run Shredder or nah? Kind of funny that's the only figure that's just nowhere to be found without spending a liver.

I thought I heard they’re doing a re-run on the turtles. If so, I wouldn’t be surprised if Shredder follows. It might even be why they haven’t announced anything new.

I really hope they do. He's the only one sold out on CoolToysClub (and now I've jinxed it so everyone else will now sell out, too lol).

Hey now, buy him dinner first!

Welp, I was worried about the $50 before shipping these were at most places, but now CoolToysClub is going to be $116 after shipping, thanks to Hitler Jr., instead of the $36 shipped I got Casey & Krang for, doing one per paycheck since I'm so destitute.

Are they telling you that or are you assuming it? Because LT Cave never cost me any more despite de minimus being repealed for China since May.

$80 tariffs on everything coming into the country after this Friday. $80 + $36 = $116. I apologize if this reply sounds snarky, I honestly do not mean to, I am just supremely upset at the ruling class getting richer while we lose more & more necessities, let alone "creature comforts."

I would love to be proven wrong, but I can't afford to be right. I technically don't even have Krang yet, but he "arrived in destination country August 23," so I'm hoping he's safe at least.
