Jada Street Fighter

Friend of mine said that someone in a toy group said (who heard it from a friend, who heard it from another you were messing around) there was an interview with Juhn where he said they might not even finish this line.

Has anyone seen this?

I wasn't really sold on Alpha, but Chun Li does look great. I'll probably go limited buys after SF2 but some of those later costume designs are fun.

It’s ToyMigo’s walkthru if you want to find it for yourself.

The jist is the plan *was* to start into Alpha 3 similar to what they did with USF2, but since Storm is currently eating their lunch if they keep up Jada might jump around to other games instead. So not at all as dire as “might not finish the line” just “we don’t want to keep showing figures of characters Storm is making, we make Juri and Ibuki instead”

Transcript of the relevant bit:

"Um, hopefully uh it's kinda early to say, um, we've been working on these for a while, but since we've started there's been a lot of like similar product out on the market. So, I'm not sure it's productive to duplicate what's already out there. So depending on the landscape next year once these come out, we'll continue Alpha or we might do something where like originally with Street Fighter 2 that was the focus on this one game, but maybe we could jump around multiple games now that we've completed one game. So now it might be a combination of maybe focus on this, or potentially exploring other games, right?"
This does inspire more hope. If we get "themed" waves for specific games that'd be great, just spread out the redos of Ryu/Ken/Chun/Cammy and it may even be the romantic ideal. From the start I've wanted a bit of everybody's Street Fighter and not just one game at a time!

I do not need any Street Fighter figures—yet I visit this thread daily. If any were to tempt me, it's Chun-Li's excellent Alpha 3 design.

I feel it's a bit different for Jada's case, as they've already given a full USFII roster. They can afford to slow down on variants of the heavy hitters, and I think they should. We'll probably get at least one USFII character every wave, though.

I wonder if the starting rosters/total overlap were a mandate from Capcom's licensing teams. If not, I hope they do something to make the lines be more of an indirect competition. All Capcom's fault either way.

Sure, but I’m guessing Jada chose the line-up and got a decent chunk of the way through development without even being aware of Storm’s plans. If you think you’re the only game in town then you’ve no reason not to do the expected. If they’d gone three obscure Alpha specific characters, I’d have been delighted, but a bunch of fans would have been complaining that they wanted Ryu.

Wave 2 should be interesting. Tempting as it’d be to do Ken, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s kicked into touch for a few waves. See also Dan. I wonder if there’ll be any attempts to have dialogue with Storm, either directly or via Capcom, as it’s in neither company’s interests to cannibalise each other’s markets.

If they move off Alpha in favour of Third Strike, I’m cool. But I’m not fussed about anything from IV onwards, so I hope that’s not the plan.

Ryu is THE opener for any subline, and Nash I'd consider as the second of the three "main characters" of the Alpha series (third being Sakura), so both make sense. I'd just rather have seen one of the ladies new to Alpha than Chun-Li.

Sakura and R. Mika have fairly proven popularity given the insane aftermarket of their figures, and Karin (along with Cody) is THE poster child of Alpha 3. All would have been great picks, though I am more than guessing at least one or two of these three are in development already. Doing Chun-Li first lets them dial in how they'll do girls from Alpha though, so if nothing else, the girls I want will be better once we do get them.

If we continue with just Alpha, I hope they stick to just the main quartet's new designs plus the newcomers. But mixing in some waves of SFIII-V, Final Fight, and Rival Schools would be spectacular. I don't think the soft sculpts would work for SF6, though.

Especially with Rival Schools getting a rerelease along with Power Stone and other cool niche Capcom fighters. I'd buy Power Stone figures too but Rival Schools is a no-brainer. Although I imagine trying to make Tiffany's outfit in an articulated action figure is a big brain activity.

Man, for years I was the only one in my school that knew anything about Rival Schools, and this was the height of the 90's arcade fighter era. I felt so special, but nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. I recently got into emulation on Raspberry Pi and that was one of the first games I put on there.

That outfit was the peak of cocaine fueled Capcom designs.

Roy and Tiffany are my favorites of Rival Schools, though I'd buy plenty of the designs from the game. It's included in the SF license, Jada just has decide when to do it.

Power Stone (And really, all Capcom IPs.) would be great to see, and I'm certain we'll see something of that sort soon, given how great Jada's relationship with Capcom is at the moment.

Just leaving this here

Since Storm is doing Darkstalkers, I'm not sure if Jada wants to be second to the party again. That being said, I'd buy them. Darkstalkers rules.
