I don't think this takes into account just how many MK lines we've had.It absolutely is more likely due to toy companies being skittish about it than anything else, which isn't really an issue with the two recent companies that have held the license. The brand name and crossovers can sell basically anything. Just sad that all the toy companies have been really, really dumb about it.
Ignoring the best MK line - the ARAH-extension line from Hasbro, we've had:
Multiple attempts by Jazwares which were all terrible figures running from like 2006 all the way to 2012 or so.
The Palisades figures that were terrible.
The Mezco figures that were terrible. (Everybody remember when Mezco was trying to do regular action figures?)
The Infinite Concepts things that were terrible.
The McFarlane figures that are terrible.
The Toy Island figures that were terrible.
And Storm - which had the best figures but they were very expensive (for the time, maybe not compared to prices these days) and 90% of their entire offering were ninjas and Goros.
