Okay so I’ve messed around with the GMK Godzilla for a few hours now and hooo boy do I have thoughts. First…I love the sculpt and paint detail. This figure manages to avoid all of the mistakes that both the SHMA and Neca versions did. Which in this case, is to not let the articulation break up the sculpt. In the case of the Hiya figure, the articulation cuts practically disappear into the sculpted detail itself. And it is very well articulated. Not as much as the Hokkaido 91 figure, but that should be expected, given that the GMK figure features a much bulkier design.
And speaking of the general size and bulk of this particular Godzilla , this figure is enormous. It’s so large that it towers over the SHMA release. Hiya GMK Goji stands a good 1 1/2” taller than his SHMA counterpart and is several times heavier. The figure features a large head, a very rotund potbelly with a sunken in torso, enormous and brightly colored dorsal plates as well as fingernails and toe claws that are attached to an enormous pair of feet. And of course to compensate for that enormous body, this figure features a magnificently long tail that is perhaps, maybe somewhat more reserved in its overall bulk when compared to the rest of this Godzilla figure. I absolutely love this figure. Maybe even more than the Hokkaido Godzilla and that figure was a standout last year.
I can’t wait to see the Atomic blast variant that comes out later this year.
