Hasbro Made-to-Order Figures

Sounds like the amount of available units hasn’t really moved that much since if first when up. Unless they keep refreshing the order count to 6000 units every time a huge slate of orders sell out

It's showing as 5394.
I can see this ending up like the Star Wars TVC Boba Fett Throne Room (aka Jabba's Throne Room). It was a MTO item that had left over stock on Pulse for quite some time before it finally went on sale to get cleared out.

I can see the same thing happening with the Sentinel, which may be another reason why they increased the price after the fact. If they have that much stock left over and they eventually have to put it on sale to try and move that stock it won't be much of a hit to Hasbro if they can sell it "on sale" for the original preorder price.

I can see them doing some overproduction, but if there really are 5,000+ left, that's over $1 million in retail sitting unsold. I am very curious what the story is - did they have 1,000's of cancelations? Did they expect someone overseas to carry a few thousand and that fell through? An actual production mistake/miscalculation? Maybe they decided they are OK waiting for a year or more to sell through if they get full price?

I was pretty convinced this run would sell out, but if they truly have over 5k units left to sell, they better lower that price back to what it was offered at originally. I'd likely buy another, but with the increase, I'm happy to wait it out.

I think some are likely still either on production or part of an order, as I've seen other figures on Pulse that were like 3k units purchasable and then the next time I checked (within days) went down to 500, and it's not like these were highly desirable figures either, they were just on the new releases, stated to be in-stock and not preorder. I think they may keep an open purchase order on some stuff.

I'd probably buy another Sentinel or two if they did go on "sale", 2 if it's an actual sale price, probably just 1 for the $175.

I've checked the numbers a few times and they don't always make sense - dropping faster than expected, then jumping up, dropping again, etc. The jumps are probably just them receiving and adding new inventory, but the drops don't always make sense. It's possible the numbers we can't see in the code aren't 100% accurate. I'm really surprised any shopping web app would make that discoverable - it's the kind of information most sites/companies don't want to share.
