Hasbro Made-to-Order Figures

I didn't want Apoc, but then a casual acquaintance sent me the picture and said, "Damn, you're getting this, right?"

And I think he's an opp or a Jedi, because I want to impress him now.

Oof, I thought I might try for extras of the MTO Sentinel, but not with a price increase. I only ordered one initially, which surprised me a few months later when I forgot how much I paid for it. $175 is already a lot, but at $220, it's just totally impractical. I wouldn't want just two total either, I'd want three. 525 vs 660 is still fucking outrageous either way.

I still haven't ordered Apocalypse, but damn. 11,000 orders is fantastic. I wonder how many units a single regular figure gets manufactured these days.

It really should kill the HasLab. This is a 12" figure, all new tooling, tons of accessories, $125 - why do we really need to pay much more than that? That's coming from someone who has never been even slightly tempted by a HasLab so I'm not the demo they're targeting with these things, but I've never been able to square the price vs what you're getting. $125 is still a lot for what will likely be just a big Marvel Legends figure, but I have a much easier time squaring it.

I came here to post that. I appreciate the rare peek behind the curtain.

11,000 is impressive. Hasbro might've accidentally killed the HasLab model (good!).

I mean that’s already more units sold than the AToC Republic Gunship

Good riddance to HasLabs as far as I’m concerned. This size an offering (or the Sentinel size) at this price is more than good enough for me. No added stress or figures locked behind paywalls.

Hope they try a team set as well. Might be the only way to get some of the apparently “too-hard-and-expensive-to-make” characters. Heck, Dwight said that a Simonson Beta Ray Bill would have to be at least a deluxe offering to justify the new tooling for him. So that doesn’t leave much hope for others at anything resembling normal prices anymore.

Being able to pay later for preorders will always lock in more sales, I think. I personally prefer it, of course. I don't have too many "dream projects" that I feel called to be an investor in and take "ownership" of. 1-2 years is a long time to order ahead, especially for big ticket items.

I saw that as well regarding Beta Ray Bill in the interview Beamish shared. That struck me as nuts. Their tooling budget is apparently microscopic these days. It makes characters like X-Men '97 Cable seem like unicorns with all of the new tooling that went into that one.

Well, bear in mind that those guys have boners for X- and Spider-related stuff. The rest of the MU doesn’t get that kind of grace as a general rule it seems.

Don't we have a lot of parts already for classic Beta Ray Bill? The latest Thor from the pack with Destroyer has the same or very similar boots. I think he just needs a newly sculpted torso, maybe a better cape. Is the modern head we got for BRB that different from the classic look?

I posted a bunch of sales numbers a few months ago that I pulled from Target's website and no one seemed to care.

Psylocke/Thanos was 20k. Right now, Storm, Weapon X and DD are at 11k and Punisher at 10k. Magic Spidey is 6k.
This is interesting. What Punisher is this? 2-pack with Fury?
