I know I only placed one in my cart, right when it went live, and in the few short seconds it took to go to checkout, he was removed from my cart as "sold out".

I doubt it will either, but I agree wholeheartedly that artificial scarcity is complete bullshit. I know it works on some folks, but that doesn't make it any less shitty.

Then you have to worry about the people that miss out on an important item for their collection and decide 'fuck this entire line.' Undoubtedly, there's already at least a couple of collectors out there that don't want to buy any Moorcock figures if they can't start with Elric. Certainly, that isn't going to stop the next two figures from also selling out. But that knock on effect could prove to be a bitch.

I won't go so far as to declare I won't ever buy anything else from Harvinger/SC, but I do know that if Elric is missing from my collection I have absolutely no reason to buy any of the other Eternal Champions they might produce. If I'd been able to score the last emperor of Melnibone I'd have probably purchased all the other Moorcock characters, but since I wasn't able to I see no point with such a glaring hole in the collection.

More than anything, it just pisses me off whenever I try to purchase anything and it is removed from my cart in seconds. That is what is sticking in my craw the most about this whole debacle. When Elric originally went up for preorder I was in some pretty bad financial straits, and I didn't want to commit when I wasn't sure if I'd be able to pay for him when he was released. It wasn't too long before I realized I WOULD be able to purchase him, but by then he was sold out everywhere. This was the last chance, and I jumped on it...only for it to be snatched away in seconds. I refuse to pay double the price from freaking scalpers, so I'll have to do without. Aggravating, to say the least.

I don't know how badly you want him, but for a while I was monitoring the BBTS preorder and actually got a preorder about two weeks ago - I ended up cancelling because @Reefer Shark got me on at a convention, but now I kinda wish I'd held on to it, at least for someone here on the forum...

Exactly my point. This is what happens. People get discouraged AND know that they won't have the collection they want to have so don't bother to continue. It's letting selling out of Aragorn in seconds and saying you won't make another one. You can certainly do it. But you're gonna struggle to sell the rest of the Fellowship.

I've been checking BBTS daily for months in the hope I snag a canceled figure. It's an unlikely scenario, I know, but I am still trying.

I read the books back in my early teens, and I loved them. I've always wanted a figure of Elric, so this was a dream come true...that ultimately didn't come true. I actually just started rereading the series, and I think I'm enjoying the stories now even more than I did way back when.
 
A "no reissues" policy maybe vaguely makes sense in a toyline of original designs that get multiple colorways each, but... no reissuing major characters from seminal works of fiction? Come the fuck on. There is nothing more stupid.

Now they're dropping AI generated advertisements on their Instagram. "The artist is out on vacation." LOL!

If they keep on in this direction, if they keep acting stupid, if they refuse to make their products of unique and highly influential characters inaccessible to anyone who doesn't get lucky, I'm out. I don't care if you make Jerry Cornelius, Corum, Fafhrd & The Gray Mouser, Lensman, or anything else. I'm out. I'm broke as hell and don't have the money to waste on absolute fucking buffoons.

I was "lucky" enough to have gotten an Elric, but my BBTS package has been stuck in one mildly infamous location 30 minutes away from me for three entire days. So here's to praying it actually arrives.

They're blaming the 'sports people' team for the AI. Implying the 'fantasy figures' team would never do that. Aren't you ONE fucking company with ONE fucking policy about things like this?

Atrocious and disappointing. If I don't see an apology pop up, I'm really not sure if I can keep buying their products at all, from EITHER team, because I don't buy that bullshit excuse anyway.

They are not. His partner seems to be more involved with the collegiate legends line.

You're feelings about the AI are yours. Me? I don't care. It was a flashing hand. I'm not sure how much better an animator could have done, or if they have a budget to hire an animator for that.

They have multiple AI posts now. If you don't have the money for an animator... don't do an animation. Not like the AI posts they're putting out are moving the needle on sales. So all they're doing is using one of the most noxious tech trends out there and gaining more ire for no benefit.
