Ghostbusters General Thread

A little late to the game here, and maybe this is in the wrong thread, but I just ordered the Winston 2-pack and afterwards, I realized I was charged sales tax on the tariff. Is this correct? Maybe this has already happened to most of you and is legit?

I'm not sure where Mondo is located now. It was in Austin, TX from what I can find but it got bought out by Funko a couple of years ago. I'm not sure if all of it did or not but Funko appears to be based in Washington. Both states require sales tax to be charged on tariff fees though so that may be it. I haven't ordered mine yet so can't say what it is going to do for me.

But I guess it could also be based on what state you are in? All of that has always been confusing to me and adding tariffs didn't help matters.

I dont get charged tax on Mondo stuff at all. Must not do enough sales in my state.

Honestly, if these were $25, I would say, "Go nuts!". But at $101, I'm not even sure if I'll complete the team. Maybe they're already talking about when hasbro's license stops, so they can lower the price?

Honestly, I kind of doubt it'd last as long as I'd like even at $25. The franchise historically stalls out after the main four pretty much every time. I'm vaguely hoping that Mondo's premium approach might keep hardcores enough to justify stretching it a bit further than is usual, but all that stuff I posted is just wistful nonsense from my youth, I basically expect nothing from this line. I'm not even sure a regular line would gets us the ghosts this one is getting us if they were released singly. I'd love it if Hasbro losing the license would open up the pricing a bit, but as ever, I do not remain optimistic. I hate sounding as defeatist as everyone else who talks about this line, but I've been burned so many times with GB figures already.

Ok, thanks cmoney :)

I went and looked at Mondo's site and see now the 2 pack pre order is up until 7/15. So, I'll keep my eyes opened around then. I mean, I know I'm safe anyways, it's not like Egon or Peter have sold out on BBTS. But I was just curious.

I really really hope they don’t do rereleases with bonus heads/accessories for a little more money. Like, Egon with a variety of expressions, hands, maybe slime deco, and character specific accessories, but no ghost or ghost trap, as a way of double dipping. That may be me being preemptively cynical but Mondo- do not do this! Accessory packs please! I don’t want to buy two versions of a figure to get the “ultimate” version.

I’m thinking they may attempt a diorama or two, and the Ecto-1. Maybe a ghost pack of mainly slug figures. I don’t know if they have the ability to do Kenner figure designs, but I could see the toilet ghost, the wolf man, etc., toon versions of some of the iconic figures.

I think Egon did go up after Mondo’s sale closed, which makes sense from a business perspective. I think they were really nervous with how Peter would sell so they just unleashed everything at once.

I’d love to see a price change if/when Hasbro’s agreement expires, but I’m definitely not holding my breath. If these are selling as well as they say then there’s little immediate incentive to do so. Maybe we could see a cheaper price for less popular characters or some sort of price break on future four pack re-releases, but we’ll see. The price sucks, but I wonder what Mondo would have aimed for without the restrictions? I’ve always assumed something in the $75-85, and that would have been in a pre-2025 market.

I wish I had waited to buy that set on sale. I got it last year whenever it came out, but wasn't that impressed with how they turned out so I never opened the box. It's a cool display to just slot in with my meager Ghostbusters collection so I didn't necessarily regret the purchase, but I would have liked it to be cheaper.

I hope the glow in the dark Real Ghostbuster and GITD Ecto-1 aren't too hard to get from Hasbro Pulse after SDCC. I really want those. I bet when the SDCC stuff goes on sale this year on Pulse something stupid will happen. Just because Pulse has been having so much trouble with their site anyways. We're either all Bots or our payments won't be accepted, or it's just random ruin a guy's life roulette day where Pulse picks members at random, some Pulse Premium Member no less, and just won't let the winner's check out. it's always something.
