Generative AI

My sister has EDS as well. I thought she was making up her illnesses for a while because it seemed impossible that anyone could be that sick.

Apt.
It's wild how many people have it now that they've developed actual diagnostics for it. Every single one of us probably knows at least one, usually several, women with a lifetime of super random health issues who have always just been "kinda sickly" or "very injury prone" or whatever and then you find out oh, nobody ever bothered to piece this all together. What do you mean hyper-mobility, migraines, stomach issues, etc. etc. etc. all go together? Sigh.

(This is a hill I'll stand on and stop about because I've watched Steph deal with it for like 15+years and I also write about healthcare quality too and it's like... quality = LISTENING to your PATIENTS)

Mystery solved. I looked it up.

She's definitely been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos, I've just never known how to spell it and didn't recognize the initials.

What a club we have.

I had a mutual back on Twitter that worked for Savage Crucible. He turned out to be a MAGA-chud and I dropped him. Probably has nothing to do with anything, shitty people are everywhere and work for everyone, but it did taint my opinion of that company.

Savage Crucible shared an AI video someone posted to their Instagram stories today. I (politely) chided them for it.
What was the video?

There's an app that lets me take pictures of my figures and animate them with text prompts. I find that endlessly amusing.

It's tough. Steph has great doctors but for the most part EDS could be defined as the "nobody listens to women" disease.
Honestly, former nurse, husband, boyfriend...

That's everything. The chores my ex wife and several girlfriends had to go through to get endometriosis assessed and treated was infuriating, even in Canada.

Even from women doctors. My ex wanted it all removed. We had no plans for kids. After we divorced her symptoms returned, worse, turned out the expert the endosurgeon in the region decided that they would leave it because maybe she would change her mind later. Had to run the whole cycle over again to get that surgery for the second time.

The things I saw and had to deal with across the board with patients and the doctors and insurance made my blood boil, just a refusal to listen and consider.

There's a reason I ducked out of the scene.

Stephanie Meyer would at least paraphrase True Blood for real.

The thing that kills me about AI authors, beyond the fact that the content AI spits out is all from stolen work from other authors is... I mean fuck, man, the most fun I had this week was writing those GI Joe file cards over in the other thread. The ACT of writing is what brings me joy. I'd sooner cut my dick off than ask a robot to string words together for me. These people aren't lazy... they have no SOUL. Why do this unnecessary thing if it brings you no joy in the act of doing it?

This is exactly it. Writing for me is so wonderful. It stresses me out when I get stuck and it's soooooo satisfying when I crack it. When it just clicks and I get a bunch of pages out and my characters are alive and I'm feeling what they feel and I worry or I'm relieved or I fall in love.... There's nothing like it and if I ever have to give it up I'll freak the fuck out. Nothing could get me to let AI do it instead. I don't care if it means I can churn out a hundred a year and make bank, fuck that. I NEED to write. I probably won't get the chance to get back to my book until next month and I'm already trying to not sink.

There was a random DJ that came up on my feed. He had posted some open letter to AI people saying that if you're not creating, and if you don't like creating, then you can't be an artist because the whole point of Art is the process.

If all you care about is getting a finished product immediately, that's not the game.

And I agree. But he got a lot of blowback in the comments from people saying " the cartridge but I don't like the process, I don't like taking the time. I have other things I'd rather do, I don't like making mistakes, I don't like learning".

Did you guys think you his we're rebutting him?

But I think it's like a deeper problem with the society we have with the technology. Teacher, friend of mine told me that running a movie in class is no longer a reward, but a chore, because everyone has a pocket screen, and you're not showing them something they want to see.

They've done the studies that even modern video games have shaped brains differently than the ones we grew up with because of the problem solving and learning how to fail and grow, versus the constant speed bag dopamine battle pass hits with no end state.

It's probably the same thing. It's several of their figures dueling with swords. The OP used an app called Nauk Nauk.

SC responded to me and said, "This is reposted from a fan." I know, guys. Doesn't mean you have to share it. I decided not to reply rather than going back and forth with a company I generally like.
