General Marvel Legends

I would be a lot more charitable towards deep cut stuff like Crystar and Warbow being released if it didn’t hold baf parts hostage for stuff I was trying to build. I’d rather be buying another Wolverine/Iron Man/Spider-Man variant I don’t really need but don’t mind to get those pieces than a character that I never heard of from something I never knew existed.

What would really help change my mind about it though would be if Crystar and Warbow were in the Mini-Comic single carded figs waves like Rom, and had either a pack in physical comic or QR code to a digital copy we could read.

Make me interested, not begrudging.

Man, see, I would happily add 100 Warbow type characters to my collection rather than another 100 variant Wolverine/Iron-Man/Spider-Man figures...

And Marvel knows those A-list characters sell anyway... the entire point of the baf is to use the buildable figure parts to sell characters that won't sell as well on their own.

So, I understand why people are grumpy about having to buy figures they don't want to build figures they do. Trust me - having to buy three movie figures I very much did not want to build the Cho Hulk figure I did want wasn't ideal. But its the price of admission for this line. I'd rather deal with that than not get obscure characters at all.

I feel like at this point I'd just prefer if BAFs were released as deluxe single carded instead, but I know they are intended to prop up figures that might not sell through. If waves were tailored more towards specific teams and the BAF was also part of that run, I'd probably have picked up a whole wave at some point, but so far I never have. As is, I end up just chasing the BAF (sometimes only the BAF) on ebay later after cherry picking the few figures I want from each wave. In fact so far most BAF's I felt like I just had to have were from waves where I didn't want any of the individual figures anyway.

Yeah, I’ll never begrudge a brand new character in a BAF wave, even if it’s someone obscure I’d otherwise not buy - I’ll usually keep it in the collection (it’s probably the reason 20% of the mutants in my collection ended up there).

But duplicate Wolverine/Iron Man/Spidey variants get flipped on eBay instantly.

I just pop the unwanted figure on eBay right away. At the end of the day I end up paying $5-10 for the BaF piece I wanted after recouping some of the money selling the figure. Not like I don’t have perpetual eBay and Discogs stores any way. It’s annoying but not that big a deal. Occasionally an unwanted figure charms me and I keep it.

Yep, I absolutely would take any random never before made character that I'd never heard of ahead of another Spidey, Wolverine, Cap, Iron Man, etc,. I hope to never have to buy a figure of any of those characters ever again (but I know that I will).
