General Marvel Legends

He didn’t say there was anything wrong with Medusa’s faceplate, just that he thinks his engineering team “…could do it better next time.”

Raza’s asymmetrical cybernetics seems to be the cost holdup there. And he said he didn’t care for Hepzibah’s old look, preferring her more modern (presumably Jim Lee) look.

And after hearing how much he him-hawed on those Starjammers, I’m convinced we’re flat out never getting Balder or the Warriors Three or any other Asgardians for that matter. So I might as well not even bother hoping anymore. Likewise more Serpent Society.

Boooooooo.

And annoying because her Cockrum look is less complex (read: expensive) than the Lee, let alone her goddawful modern pirate costume.

I hear ya, bro. There's no other way to say it. This sucks.

I really wish Disney would start charging less for the license. They may have to at some point or they'll price themselves right out of the toy market.

So... I can't take the comments about the Starjammers seriously Why even do Ch'od and Corsair if you don't plan to do the rest of the team? It's ludicrous. And the idea that they are too expensive is nonsense. They do plenty of figures that require new tooling, so it can't really be that.

I do hope its just misdirection.

The constant surprise of Hasbro peeps that fans want to complete teams HASBRO STARTS in a timely manner is what is getting old to me. Oh, the rest of the Starjammers are expensive?

YOU STARTED THEM.

I really like these guys, but "it's expensive" is such a copout. I don't mean this offensively, but that's not my problem - Hasbro started a team with truly no plan to finish it.

In a world where Starfox/Champion, Nighthawk/Whizzer and Masque/Crossbones two-packs exist, what is it about these that make them so hard? One at a time over the next two X-waves is also fine - or BAF them if they are THAT expensive.

While I'm waiting for the blood pressure meds to kick in ...

You know, I actually thought that, too. And I hope like hell we're both right.

The problem is, if this is indeed misdirection on Hasbro's part, we'll have to take anything they say with a major grain of salt from this point on. Trust will have gone flying out the window.

(Which won't stop us from talking to them. But still.)

So what, we gotta crowd fund Raza and Hepzibah now? Why did they start the Starjammers if they don't intend to finish them. I'm pretty sure Deathbird was expensive in and of herself. The Serpent Socety I'd barely even heard of, let alone known any of their names other than Copperhead / Constrictor.

This idea that a now $30 toy of varying quality needs to be justified as some sort of major windfall is getting out of hand. The paint jobs on the faces have gotten better which I'm pleased with but the plastic lately has been cr@p. I have to wonder if the goal isn't to just have sh!t plastic so everyone will perpetually in the market for their favorite characters. What's next, Hasbro comes out with "well no one said your figures would last a decade, think of it like a subscription service, you're merely renting the enjoyment of owning this biodegradable plastic."

I have McFarlanes (this is not some McFarlane fanboy diatribe so don't get it twisted) from 20 years ago that are still in the same shape I unboxed them in and are not falling apart. Now finishing the team you started is a big ask? Was properly done Chod too much too?

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they likely will do them but it'll be few and far between. Whether it looks like the version of either Raza or Hepzibah you were hoping for remains to be seen. Fingers crossed on that Google image search!

I really don’t understand why Hepzibah is so hard for them. They have the Shriek body. They have Tigra. Or a Black Cat. Or Wolfsbane. Several characters with arm fur and a spot for a tail. The Jim Lee costume is skin tight and basically all paint. New head. She should be easy.

I just feel like we shouldn't get too excited when they say stuff like this. Every time they're asked directly about a character or figure that hasn't been announced, the first answer is always "Even if we were making them tomorrow, we aren't going to tell you that right now." But answering that to every character-specific question would make for a dull interview, so at least there's additional information about some of the behind-the-scenes factors being shared. Of course characters more obscure or more labor-intensive than Raza have been made, and will continue to be made. It could be the case that they tried to slip one of them into the last or the next x-wave and couldn't get it to cost out with that wave's budget. And, y'know, he's not wrong that those two aren't going to be hot sellers. But, they've obviously already worked on getting them made or he wouldn't have any thoughts at all to share.

They literally just showed off a figure of Hypno Hustler. Clearly, anything and everything is still on the table - including our favorite Asgardians.

Yeah, Dwight's comments about the Starjammers seems pretty odd. When I mentioned them at SDCC he seemed very enthusiastic about them and completing that team. He certainly didn't give me any indication they would be difficult to make, like he said the original Guardians would be. Maybe his comments to Dan Who? Reviews was a red herring, and they already have plans to complete that team.
I'm not too surprised that Dwight might be more candid when talking directly with you (or SDC, or others) when a camera isn't involved. I'm sure they hedge their bets a lot more when they're being recorded by a prominent social media type.
