Not to get too into the weeds of religious history, but most Christians are perfectly okay with using imagery and physical representations of religious figures in their worship. The distinction they make with the false idol thing is whether the object itself is believed to have any inherent power or be the object of worship vs just being an icon that helps the devotee's thoughts focus on God or a certain saint or whatever.Which seems sacrilegious.
