General Marvel Legends

Not going to blame you for not having it in the DC section, while I'm hoping they have something cool to show off at SDCC, it is unlikely that they'll be able to show off anything from their new collector line at SDCC. That said, I will say that it doesn't really make any sense to me to have it in the Marvel section either. Feels like something that should go into General Toys.

Well, brush my teeth and call me pearly!

The 2026 SDCC badges are now shipping! And they sure are purty this year.

The USS Enterprise hovering above the San Diego Convention Center and Harbor Drive makes for a stunning visual.

The trolley wraps are starting to show up downtown, and in a few days the street banners will go up. I'll be astonished if the banners are not Spider-Man or Doomsday related.

And I'll tell ya something else (Even though I'm probably going to get some backlash for this): If I knew for certain that Mattel would be debuting their new DC Collectors line at SDCC this year, we'd be doing the Countdown thread on the DC Board instead of the Marvel board.
Go ahead. Let me have it. I have taken my HATE IMMUNITY™ pills (© and ® Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters) so I'm good. I do not care.

Come at me, bros. My body is ready.
I know you usually take question requests for the Hasbro team, so it'd be great if you ask them how soon they expect to fill out the Crystar roster.

Feel free to re-word or not take this suggestion, but if you're looking for question ideas, I'd ask if they have any intentions on releasing figures for characters they've missed over the years. Most especially Maya Lopez from the Echo series, which is a series they've just straight up ignored.

If anyone is lucky enough to pass along requests to the Hasbro "Marvel Legends" team at SDCC or at a future convention or live-stream interview, I have five I would love to tell Hasbro that aren't Volcana and Jack of Hearts: black-and-red Avengers West Coast era suit Wonder Man, white Armani suit Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles (I'd prefer an updated classic green-and-yellow suit Ock, but to be honest. an Armani suit Ock is LONG overdue), Professor Hulk in his brown Pantheon-era jumpsuit, 1995 "opera gloves" suit Invisible Woman (not the two-piece version, see the 1995 "Marvel Masterpieces" cards for the suit I mean), and classic Gene Colan art based Dracula (on behalf of @AceofKnaves, of course).

Well, there is a couple of reasons for doing it here. One is tradition. I started doing this on the Fwoosh Marvel board years ago. Legends has been around a long time and some of us have collected it since the beginning. Back in the day Jesse Falcon himself used to post there.

Reason two is our annual top ten poll and the trading cards we give the team. The poll is conducted here on this board. Giving them the cards at SDCC is our way of letting them know what our biggest wants are. We have a great rapport with those guys.

And those are the reasons why. I mean, I'm okay with moving it if folks want me to but I think it really belongs here.

Dwight and I had a fun chat about Zzzax, Hepzibah and Gargoyle last year at SDCC. For the past few years I kept meaning to bring up the question about him name dropping those three characters specifically in his 2021 Insta post but forgot to do so at SDCC 2023 and 2024. It was the first question I asked him last year.
Basically, Zzzax and Gargoyle too cost prohibitive, at least as of last year. He would love to see both of them in the line. We did chat about yellow Zzzax, Kirby Krackle Zzzax - what would look best. Our chat about Hepzibah was which costume would be the best costume, so I took that as a good sign that she's at least part of the board meeting planning conversations, and she's on the 2027 rumor list. Raza, however, didn't fare as well as his teammate. Dwight started that he too is cost prohibitive.
Hey @SDcomics - is it time for the 2026 SDCC/Conventions "What are your questions" thread?

Everything is too cost prohibitive until they find the right outlet for it. Honestly, I'm glad this is the attitude - I'd rather wait and have those one-off characters done correctly than get some lame, half-assed attempt. In a perfect world they'd have more leeway with budgets, sculpts, accessories, etc, but in reality the ML team is working within financial constraints and I'm glad their approach is to wait things out for the chance to do them right.

I'm guessing Dwight also has to pick his battles and find the right spot to champion a less heralded character. It probably also doesn't help his cause if he goes to bat for a character that then performs poorly at retail.

Agree this is the correct approach. That's what MTO was designed for; unfortunately, it ain't working.
