I saw on the Slag Podcast for Transformers that someone showed how the 40% Tariffs would effect prices on that line, and oof.....if we're coming to world where those prices become the norm, then guess who is not going to be buying very much and is calling several toy lines done, lol! For reference, I cannot recall all the prices from the graph, but the 24.99 priced Deluxes for that line, the equivalent of a standard Marvel Legend, would jump to $36.49! That's insanity, and I aint grabbing very much at that price point. There is gonna be a lot of me waiting for Ollie's or hedging a bet on a price drop down the road

This is the Spider-Man Tax plain and simple.
Well, a standard legends anymore comes with what. Maybe an extra set of hands, or a head, or a weapon? Rarely a combo of the 3 anymore. So in that regard, him having all those gives him more accessories than a lot of what they release anymore.
But not being fair....yes this is absolutely a Spider-Man tax
Just by comparison, look at everything Madame Masque's half of the 2 pack comes with for $25 or even She-Hulk could be a better example..
She-Hulk is a better example, but not all figures at the $25 are like that. They prob can give her more cause of heavy reuse. How many times have we just seen a base figure? Maybe with a gun? Not saying it's right, just pointing out crap Hasbro has pulled.
Totally agree, but is Toby also not heavy reuse? I know his upper torso was re-sculpted, but my assumption was everything else is reuse.
For the record, I think the price is BS lol! But the one thing I can say is She-Hulk doesn't require paying an actor a fee like the Tobey head almost certainly requires on top of everything else. I honestly would have been cool with less stuff and normal price personally. Like give us the alt head and maybe a set of hands and that's it. I like the symbiote effect, but if that's the difference between 30 and 25 bucks....dump it lol

I didn't pay too much attention to this wave, so correct me if I'm wrong here, but the NWH Wave that came with the unmasked heads were not marked up, right? I recognize this figure comes with a little more AND doesn't have a full wave to hide some likeness rights money in, but still with the heavy reuse included there's only so many truly new parts here. It doesn't matter much because the people who want this are going to buy it no matter what the cost, but I just really dislike the predatory practices surround MSRP lately.
You and me both, and yeah those were 25 each. When I saw that $30 price, I legit had the JJJ SM2 reaction of "That's outrageous! Done" and it's only for the fact that I badly wanted this specific look for Tobey Spider-Man and I knew it would sell and likely not go on sale.
But boy soon, we may be looking back like $30 bucks was a bargain in retrospect....
I better move into a vastly different tax bracket before that happens
