General Marvel Legends

The young head in a vacuum is not an issue to me. It is accurate to the book they based him on. But when you choose to do the safest version of Mandarin possible, and then include those hands feels icky to me. It's a wild choice. In the two stories they're basing this Mandarin on, he never has long clawed nails like that.. Hell in Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. he doesn't have his own hands at all. Which to answer part of your question, the ringless hands I'm sure they intend for use with the older head. In that story line, he has the rings fused to his spine, but he wears gloves most of the time to cover his prosthetic hands.. Why they included 2 sets of ringless hands is a bit of a mystery though. The yellow peril hands appear new to me, so if you're gonna do it, might as well at least put the rings on them too.

I'm also mildy offended by DoS Mandarin being an after thought in this set when he pairs better with the Extremis armor than Fraction's Invincible Iron Man Mandarin does. DoS remains my favorite modern Iron Man run and deserves it's flowers.

Is it just my imagination, or does the cover they took the box art from have a liiiiiittle bit of the claw look going on with the one thumb nail that's visible? The interior art seems to have completely dropped it, though.

Gloved hands? They have those.
Robot hands? They have those too.
Coulda just dropped those in instead.
I definitely struggle with this one.
I love those claw hands.
But NOT for the Mandarin.
This feels more like ignorance than anything, at least on Hasbro's part. The claws/long nails are, unfortunately, accurate to the vast majority of depictions of the character up until very recently. It's not like they are an unrelated accessory someone on the ML team decided to throw in. Yeah, they're technically inaccurate to this specific look, but that's par for the course with ML. I'm a bit surprised that it made it past licensor approval.

We Marvel Legends fans are known for being notoriously hard to please, yet the recently released figure we seem to be the happiest with is FF She-Hulk which may be one of the simplest figures they’ve released this year. I think there are some lessons to be learned here if Hasbro is paying attention.

1) You can get a lot of mileage out of a great head sculpt and body. (They do seem to get that one.)

2) Release characters/versions that have lasting appeal beyond one specific mini-series or story-arc.

3) Don’t lock those figures behind 2 packs and 3 packs.

4) Make those figures readily available to everyone.

5) If you adhere to 1-4, you don’t need gimmicks to sell figures

…or to put it another way…just go back to doing what got you here in the first place, Hasbro.

I did buy three of those purple outfit She-Hulks, all full price and it took way too much self control not to buy one every time I saw her on the pegs. Only one F4 version...so far.

I totally get that. When there’s a figure that hits all the right notes for you, it’s hard to leave it sitting on the pegs, even if you already have one (or more).

I'm currently missing the shoelace piece from one of Sentinel Miles Morales' shoes, and having hardwood floors, never saw where it went after picking the figure up. I'm honestly hoping it fell under the bookcase, because then it's at least safe from the vacuum (my disablities make sweeping difficult, so I vacuum non-carpeted floors).

Goddamnit, do I have to get Retro now to supplement my F4 with more options???

This was the 20th Anniversary Cap for me and why I had to have Secret Wars Cap. Cap is my favorite Marvel hero and I buy multiples of him way to often. She Hulk is another favorite and the current two are just about perfect. Although I almost didn't get my F.F. She Hulk. I preordered from Gamestop and fully paid for her. I stopped in the store on way home after work last night and there she was on the pegs with all the other Legends! A new employee didn't check the preorder list when he started shelving new inventory. Thankfully she was there still and as they were marking my preorder has picked up I got a couple bucks back as the price actually was less than initial preorder. So that eased my unhappiness of what could have happened.

I suppose he has a slightly long and shaped thumbnail.

September 9th marks the 60th anniversary of the Inhumans. They made their first appearance in Fantastic Four number 45 on September 9th, 1965.

It would be nice to finally see Gorgon and Triton if they're coming.

(And Maximus would be cool, too)

September 9th is also my birthday, so any Inhumans reveal would be a really awesome birthday surprise!
