G.I. Joe Head Canon & Fanfic Filecards

Man. That was wonderful! Really gave him an awesome plot, which really shouldn't be surprising i guess since that's just your M.O. with these.
He's a character I didn't like a kid because the cartoon made him so one-note, but his OG file card is interesting in how he's the only one I've found so far who has special status to pick and choose his missions. He's got a foot in two worlds in a way most of the others don't.

Huh, damn. I thought Claymore was like that too but no, he just gets the "special" assignments. But yeah, i think I had something of a bias against Big Lob because he never got a figure. And everybody kinda sucked in that movie, but at least some were entertaining. Chuckles rides ON the helicopter, starting it the oul manual way, etc. Joes guard their highest profile prisoner with their "three best guys", come on. Guard him with ALL the guys! He's Serpentor for Christ's sake, they may want him back! Anyway, whenever i picture Big Lob, it's hugging Tunnel Rat and who can hate on that?

Love the idea of a Joe just transitioning into politics, and it makes sense for it to be one that wasn't a full-timer. If I had to imagine the Joe-to-Politician pipeline, it would NOT look like this and not be Big Lob, so that was a really cool thing to see imagined up. It works so well.

I'm not sure what it was about Big Lob that struck me as having a political career but it works really well - I can hear him giving a speech in my mind already.

File Name: Jesso, Kyle A.
Primary Military Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Military Specialty: Hand-to-hand combat instructor
Birthplace: Sacramento, California
Rank: E-5

Subject accepted early retirement from the GI Joe Unit and was placed under standard surveillance. It was discovered, however, he was targeted by a former Cobra operative now working for the Lewis administration due to an existing grudge developed during a mission several years back. The agent, who is no longer employed by the U.S. government (footnote: see attached file for death record) used the opportunity to enact revenge on Jesso while separated from his Joe peers. Officially, the incident has been struck from the record; unofficially, we are in the process of fabricating documentation for the agents who did not return from that unauthorized assault. The subject has disappeared and is currently at large.

"They came for Budo in the dark, decked out in night vision goggles and armed to the teeth, but this guy wanted to hurt Kyle before he killed him, so they went in close. Budo knew they were coming, though. He had his garage door open, his pan-head Harley recently tuned up and running, some heavy metal playing as a distraction. So as these ex-Cobra goons swarmed in expecting an easy kill, Budo was there, calm as can be in his family armor, sword sharpened thinner than paper, and then, to the sounds of electric guitar and the rumble of that bike's engine, he dismantled them like lesser warriors on an ancient battlefield. There's no coming back from that, of course, and Budo knew it. He had is bags packed, his gas tank full, and he swapped his samurai mask for a biker's helmet and roared out into the night like Hiro Protagonist. He's in the wind now, a true ronin so to speak, but we're looking for him. There's no reason for him to be a lone warrior when his brothers in arms are willing to ride alongside him."

I probably ended up on a watch list researching Tripwire because I wanted to look into humanitarian organizations that remove unexploded ordinance from old war zones...

Code Name: Tripwire (Disavowed)
File Name: Skoog, Tormod S.
Primary Military Specialty: Explosive Ordinance Disposal
Secondary Military Specialty: Demolitions
Birthplace: Hibbing, Minnesota
Rank: E-4

Subject immediately applied for work with the HALO Trust after retiring from the GI Joe Unit, looking to work in removing unexploded ordinance from current and former war zones around the world. He briefly sought to transfer to work with the Army Corps of Engineers with their FUDS (Formerly Used Defense Sites) program but was denied due to his previous connections with the Joes and thus turned instead to humanitarian organizations where his skills in Explosive Ordinance Disposal could be put to good use. It is the opinion of the administration that as few former Joes as possible should be allowed to work internationally while Lewis is in office; however, Skoog's public application to the humanitarian organization and very specific expertise made denying his application problematic. We maintain the highest level of security on Skoog's location, though he travels in locations where both surveillance, and travel in general, is difficult if not impossible without expert local guides.

"We were worried about Tripwire in retirement. The dude can barely cross the street without getting hit by a car. If he's not staring down a bomb he's more of a danger to himself than anyone else could be to him. Heck, I thought he'd try to go back to the monastery, but they don't want him there either! But... I mean it's tragic there's so many old war zones in the world, but they're full of landmines and unexploded ordinance and they need people like Tripwire to make sure no kid ever stumbles across someone else's weapons of war. But this also means he's nearly completely off of Lewis's radar - he's out there in DANGEROUS territory. But he's also working with international teams to do this work, and that means Big Ben and Quarrel are able to meet up with him for a friendly drink and trade intel. It also means Tripwire can help 'dispose' of all that ordinance in a way that his helpful to Hawk for when things really get bad..."

Heh, i always liked Tripwire but had the Tiger Force version. This just made me like him even more. Kinda reminds me of my mom heh, with the clumsiness. But I love it. Shit is on!!!

I always loved the Tiger Force version more too. Although my favorite was the "Listen n Fun" version, the bright orange and red one!

Shit, I think we're down to Shooter and Zap after this one for named Joes who have figures already! I gotta look at the viper list to see if there's any cool generics I haven't written up yet. Taking suggestions!

Code Name: Kamakura (Disavowed)
File Name: Classified
Primary Military Specialty: Infantry
Secondary Military Specialty: Intelligence
Birthplace: Classified
Rank: E-5

Subject has a questionable affiliation with the GI Joe Unit to begin with; his E-5 designation appears to be for paperwork only and not an official rank. What the Lewis administration does know is he was personally recruited and trained by [REDACTED] and has a long history with the Arashikage clan, an organization which has both positive and adversarial relationships with Lewis in the past. Anyone connected to Arashikage is currently under maximum level of surveillance. That being said, the agents tailing Kamakura recently lost track of him. It is believed he was headed to Japan for reasons unknown. We have dispatched [REDACTED] to attempt to find and, if necessary, eliminate the subject.

"Snake Eyes is a ghost, but he's a ghost Lewis is looking for. It's going to be hard even for him to leave the country. But Snake Eyes and Tommy need to know what the Arashikage clan is up to - there's been a power struggle in the clan since Lewis took office and we absolutely need to know if their ninjas are working for Lewis, willing to work with Tommy and Snake Eyes, or in the very least remaining neutral in the current situation. That's why they dispatched Kamakura to Japan. He's there to make contact with the surviving Arashikage masters, represent our case, get a temperature check, and report back. Kamakura's good, he was trained by the most dangerous man on the planet, but he's just one lone ninja quite literally in ninja territory. Who knows what kind of welcome he's looking at when he gets there."
