I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread for all of this so it's easier to refer back to. A lot of you have great ideas, some of which I'd like to steal and it will be a lot easier to find if it's here in this thread.

@docsilence and @altcunningham did great ones for my second Cover Girl (which I'm still waffling between!). I'll dig up those posts and repost them here or they can do it. I just have screenshots of them right now.

Who are your homemade characters or names/back stories you've given to your doubles, repaints, or generic troopers and what did you swap up on them gear wise to make them different?

Or even which existing characters have you fleshed out to give them more personality?
 
Maybe not quite what you are looking for, but my head canon has been that any of the running change variations we’ve seen like Destro with and without the circle on his helmet or the blue and brown eyed Beachheads are Zartan in disguise. Little things in his disguise are off, giving him away. For a Master of disguise, none of his figures have really leaned into that enough. Maybe we just need more Zartan heads included with other figures or something?

That fits perfectly into the intention of the thread. I just like to hear the little things other collectors come up with. Head Canon seems to have always been a pretty big thing in MOTU and GI Joe moreso than some other properties I have followed.

So this is a new character I made from the Haslab Baroness because I didn't need a fourth Baroness. Cobra is also one big sausage fest and needs more ladies.

She is a pilot and her codename is Cockpit. One because she's a great pilot but also because she's a bit "free-spirited" when it comes to...bedroom activities with the Cobra dudes. She and Wild Weasel also have an on again/off again relationship.

Some of you talented folk feel free to flesh that out a bit if you want.

I am away from my computer so not sharing any cards right now, but most of the Joes are ripped from the original hasbro bios. I do mess with ranks here and there and roles. Hawk is in charge, Duke essentially coordinates from base, a lot of the original 13 guys are Colonels and LT Colonels, with Stalker essentially being like Tom Sizemore in Black Hawk Down.

I think Cobra gets way more of my head canon though. Cobra Commander is top, and I have a spot for if they do a retro Serpentor or something but I'm going with the IDW cult leader version. All my Vipers are named and kinda Cobra's version of the Rangers, with all my officers and troopers (also named) as Cobra's SEALs (CLAWs).

I'll look at them when I get home to share more.
 
I want to take some of my army builders and do an un-helmeted head swap and make them named squad leaders. Got to look through the accessories and come up with some more heads.
 
If they ever put that Baroness out as a single figure, even with totally different colors or something, but with the hair up hair, I already have a file card cooked up for that character damn them. The Rattler is the first Haslab where I am hot for all the figures.

They're totally gonna do it, the sculpt is clearly intended for that early blue suit. It's got the puffy diamonds and all.
 
Fun thread idea! I gotta scroll back through our shenanigans to find the ones I've done on here - I foolishly just wrote them into the post and didn't save them. I'm working on one for the diver action hero figure since I'm not planning on army building him and he'll need to hang with Torpedo and Wet Suit for a bit.
 
I pilfered from Wet Down for the diver. I don't know if they'll ever do a figure of him, and he was born where I grew up so really wanted to use that.

Finally decided to tackle the repaint of that stupid yellow geared Valkyrie. I popped a SHIELD agent head on her and she's going to be a named squad commander. I also painted her emblem silver, which I THINK is indicative of a higher rank? If not just let me live in ignorant bliss because that was hard to paint.

Any suggestions for codenames for her?

I have the two Valkyries but named them Valkyrie and Tempest, then the Claw pilot I put the red masked Caucasian head on and gave her the Red Scream name (another character I don't really expect them to get to) and made her from Belfast.
