G.I. Joe Classified Series

$55

EDIT: Shit, I meant the Ghost Viper. But still, it went up.
I got excited because when I checked it online it showed add to cart and also had a location assigned as GM1 which puts it on the big displays but it still shows as out of stock at my store. In stock status has not been accurate on anything lately for me though, with Walmart. I was in there last night and didn't see it though. Really trying to keep an eye out since I missed the preorder.

Yeah my Walmart has zero Joes and instead fully stocked on frustrated, impatient suburban parents and bratty kids. There's zero Joes, zero Masterverse, just skibidi toilet and wrestling figures basically. And it's the only Walmart in town!

After considering Flint more, My conclusion is that they went for the cartoon look. That's very much him being bemused during the down time before the the action started.

And I don't think they've done that with any other figures? It really does jump out as a tonal difference in addition to the style.

All the Walmarts in my entire city and surrounding area (so like... 6 Walmarts? Maybe 7) are like this. The only 6" 'collector' figures left anywhere are basically shoved into random spots and most of them are remnants of things like the Legends Eternals wave or a random Star Wars figure that never sold, and maybe wave 2 (3?) of Jada Street Fighter.
Besides that, just wrestling figures. Which wouldn't even be so bad if they weren't 7 waves behind.

Just been looking at who's left from the '82-'87 period (not counting various vehicle drivers) that we've not had renders of yet and it's:
  • Zap
  • Flash
  • Grand Slam
  • Ripcord (regular)
  • Airtight
  • Iceberg
  • Crazy Legs (regular)
  • Fast Draw
  • Psyche Out
  • Sneak Peek
  • Taurus
  • Red Dog
  • Golobulus
  • Battleforce 2000 (lol)
Weirdly, it's just Joes apart from Golobulus, all the Cobra guys are done/in the pipe.

Of the '88+ gang, the ones I'm looking forward to most are Blizzard, Repeater, and blingmaster Voltar, need those guys on the slate asap. Also goddamn, I guess I wasn't quite aware just how fast things go downhill fast from '90 onwards, holy moly.

Where's the dislike button? :ROFLMAO:

But for real, as someone with no nostalgia for the early lines, so many of the early figures look the same as each other. Very simple looks. They looked pretty dull until '84. 90s is crazy but it's also a lot of fun. 1992 had ninja force, and 1993 is chock-full of bangers!

But, if the point is that 1990+ looks like a different toy line, then for sure. It's like including neon was part of a strict dress code.

That's why we need characters like Scar-Face, Raven, the Cobra Naval Officer, Dr. Venom, and Leila to get brought into the line.

Not a shot against Revox because I don't think he meant it this way but it just kind of jogged a thought for me: This whole conversation is why I basically cannot tolerate interacting with Joe fans outside the Fwoosh/AT community we've built. The obnoxious, absolutely fucking exhausting whinging and piss-bitch complaining about different eras of Joe not being to someone's tastes.

It feels like alone among all multi-decade fandoms, only Joe fans cannot even fathom that a part of the franchise can exist that they just don't care for and don't have to talk about. It's always like "I'll only buy this line until the '84 stuff is finished and then everything else is GARBAGE!' No one cares, dude. Nobody. Just let people have the stuff they like.

The only thing close to this is the amount of hate certain old-timers would give to Jim Lee X-Men whenever that team was brought up in ML for many years over on Fwoosh.

Every once in a while I open up my binder in which I keep my full set of G.I. Joe trading cards, just to see how many characters from that set are still unmade in Classified, and immediately on page 1 there's Cesspool and the Toxo-Viper and the rest of the Eco line. Not until those crazy bastards are made will I start thinking my collection is close to complete.

Not to mention Salvo, Hardball, Captain Gridiron and all the rest of the unmade characters from the trading cards. It's gonna be a while til I can start cooling my heels on Classified, I think.
