G.I. Joe Classified Series

I bet you'd like to give it to her.
Well, it is Scarlett. I think she and Baroness were my OG developmental locks.

I was aware I was into women since first grade, but even by 6th grade I just didn't know what I was supposed to do about that.

And there was a girl that had a crush on me and as girls do she went around with a group of people to try and ask me out. Out. Obviously if I can barely handle one girl trying to talk to me having her and like five henchmen come up is just not going to work in her favor.

She actually choke slammed my friend Brian against a brick wall outside of the school demanding to know why I wouldn't talk to her. One of my teachers even walked by and laughed. Different times.

Anyway, all this to set up that she and her posse chased me on bicycles to the local convenience store where I was trying to duck them. Faced with no recourse, all I could do was grab... It wasn't even sports illustrated it was the less successful sports magazine that also had a swimsuit issue.

And this girl with all her heart was seriously pleading, why won't I go out with her? What's wrong with her?

And in these formative years, these crucial developmental years, I threw that swimsuit magazine at her and said "because you don't look like this!" as I fled.

I often think about what her therapy bills must look like.

No shame. My mom was a red head so... Baroness was it for me. And dark haired women in glasses with an accent still rev my engine for sure.

Big time same here. I always had a crush on at least one in every grade. And I totally fantasized about girls as long as I can remember, but obviously it only went as far as my knowledge. In first grade I was like "aw man, I would kill to kiss her on the lips!"

I have a slightly similar experience but it was because I wasn't into her and didn't know how to deal with that and felt bad so just made it way worse than a simple rejection would have been. We're inexperienced, ah well. It's amazing how many things I still kick myself about from grade school. Man, why didn't six year old me know how I handle shit like a 48 year old?! Fucking eejit.

Also this occurred to me:

haha is there an inside joke I missed?
Heheheh oh yes.
I had the temerity to point out the new parts on Ghost-Viper (there are lots!!) on Facebook, and some collector bro absolutely declared war on me. It was . . . kinda funny, but he really lost his shit and threw around some crazy accusations and also said he was Very Big In Collecting and like in some documentary.
It was a weird day.

Finally got my Blowtorch, and two things struck me about the image on the back of the package.
1) The Bridgelayer! Could this be a sign that we’re getting this vehicle from Hasbro?
2) With Cobra troops on the other side of the ravine, why is Blowtorch firing in the opposite direction? Talk about “friendly FIRE”.

When I first noticed it, someone (I'm sorry to who it was, I can't remember) pointed out they put stuff like that on there and doesn't necessarily mean it's coming. but I'm also wondering, without taking the time to examine them, how close the bodies for the Bridgelayer and Wolverine are, meaning could they make one and easily reuse it for the other?

Ooooh, I never even knew the bridge layer was a thing until the late 2010s, I was quite irked that it was never released here because I love that they had something just purely practical for support purposes. I eventually got a fixer-upper off eBay, restored it and paired it with a modern era version of the driver guy. Would love to see it get the Classified treatment, even if I did just spend the afternoon tidying up the storage room wondering where the hell I can put anything more.

In other news, I picked up a retro Jaye in a bargain bin but after much umming & ahhing, decided to stick with the OG Classified body (prefer the darker jumpsuit) and give it the head (not crazy about the lipstick but the eyes are better), weapons, camera and backpack. I think this works for me, I'm good now. She'll go nice with Flint when he finally arrives.

Just got Budo and this figure makes me angry at OTHER TOY MANUFACTURERS.

First of all his kit is stacked and you can't just make three different looks for him, you can modular-ize the hell out of him and come up with dozens of looks. He's ridiculously versatile. The armor does not inhibit his ROM much at all (the samurai kilt/skirt does just a bit, but not much. And all of his gear can be swapped without boil and pop (side-eyeing a very specific high-end indie studio about this). No fuss, no muss, just swapping his gear around willy nilly (aside from this gauntlets but Classified hands are designed to swap anyway so it's no big deal) and the scarf needs a head pop but again, designed to swap.

He has too much gear. It is Christmas morning. I was cursiing myself out for ordering two because I wanted to use John Budo Wick and clean-cut man-bun Budo at the same time but seriously, if he goes on sale I could see getting a third to keep him permanently in his family armor. The only thing I wish he came with was a stand to put the family armor on, and that's not even a knock, it's just an improvement.

Slice & Dice were stupidly good for non-marquee Joes characters, and Budo absolutely says "hold my sake" and goes even harder. The crazy thing is the stripped down, no armor figure underneath is awesome all on his own - he doesn't need all the bells and whistles, but they make him even better.

Actually, a bit of an EFF YOU to Hasbro for mastering the removable vest thing now after I had to mutilate a Flint to get his vest off and have been considering mutilating a Beachhead to do the same. This should be the gold standard for armor going forward. (And to think two weeks ago I was saying Monster Force mastered the removeable vest thing, but even their buttons/tabs to hold them in place fight you if you remove them and try to put them back on - Budo's snap back into place like butter. The skirt/kilt too - it's pops back in so cleanly it's infuriating that other figures don't do this.)

Anyway, I didn't give a damn about Budo until like a year ago and this might be my figure of the year. Or at least a very strong contender.

(EDIT: And he's CHEAPER THAN A F*CKING MAGIC THE GATHERING MARVEL LEGENDS CROSSOVER FIGURE WT ever-loving F)
