I’ve got a great Stewart impression, if I do say so myself, but I definitely played this show “straight” and serious as a heart attack. It was crazy because this particular version is framed as a radio drama, so technically I was playing a character playing a character and I was also the radio announcer/narrator, and also they would do cheeky “station breaks” and stuff in 40s radio style, so I’d literally be in the middle of utterly sobbing in despair and then I’d have to completely code-shift and go “AND NOW, A WORD FROM OUR SPONSORS!” in cheesy announcer voice before going on a break *in character* onstage while the ads were performed. Gnarly challenge. Also my wife played Mary, which sounds fun but like 70% of our interactions were me yelling at her and our onstage kids and also dealing with her well-played horror in the “never been born” part.Did you do a Jimmy Stewart impression or keep it natural?
And yes: it’s on my favorite movie list as well. I’ve loved it all my life.
