G.I. Joe Classified Series

Yeah, not only am I already pretty married to the Timothy Olyphant silver fox Joe Colton, but even if we didn't get a younger with hair headsculpt of Willis, I'd STILL call him McClane/"Die Hard"!!

EDIT: Fuck, we got a 1:18 figure of him...PLEASE, HASBRO.

I was just looking at the 1:18 Retaliation Joe Colton. Looks more like Joe Rogan than Bruce Willis!

I agree with @TENIME that Colton should be more of a silver-haired dude, so if they ever make Colton, I'd want them to do lots of swappable heads. Young bearded, older bearded...and two of Bruce Willis as both older and younger.

Dammit...I'm gonna be searching for 1:12 scale 80s era Bruce Willis custom heads now, aren't I?

I'll bring it back around.

Had like $20 in Target dollars to spend and came upon the latest wave today. Couldn't say no to Monkeywrench. Real well done figure. Although did get him home and immediately got to work to de-tattoo him like I did Ripper, Torch and Road Pig.
Whoa it's young Donal Logue.

Okay, I'll bite: what's the big deal about bikers having tattoos? I just can't imagine being put out about that.
If I had to guess it's more the 'ARAH didn't have it, so it looks weird to me.' If that's the argument, I can totally get behind that. I, also, find myself often disliking the modern embellishments on vintage designs.

Yeah, it's purely an ARAH accurate thing. Like, I kept the ones on Buzzer, Gnawgahyde, and Road Pig that the vintage figures had.

HAVE NONE OF YOU WATCHED IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE??
I played George Bailey in a stage version over the holidays last/this year.
I don’t exactly have a funny anecdote, but it was one of the most transformative and intense acting experiences of my career. I’ve never cried so much on-stage, it felt *super* personal. Getting to tell off old man Potter every night was incredibly cathartic.

Anyway: JOES!!!!!!!
I’m like bouncing waiting for Slice and Dice to charge/ship.

I have no problem with tattoos being added to figures in the line. I don't need 100% RAH accuracy. The only tattoo application I didn't like in Classified was the belly one on Road Pig. Cleaned it off, and he looks much better. He actually has some slight ab definition in his sculpt which the tattoo drowned out and obscured.

I think the tattoos are definitely a matter of taste, even outside of being ARAH-accurate or not. If you're striving for that like.. late '80s/early '90s look for your characters generally, then too many tattoos can look weird. Tons of tats does tend to be a very 'modern' thing. So if you just want your figures to look like they still exist in the early '90s, I can see how that wouldn't fit your mental narrative even if you don't necessarily care for ARAH accuracy.

Personally, I don't -necessarily- care about ARAH accuracy as much as I care about just good design work. And the reality is that the original Joes often had GREAT designs that have stood the test of time. A lot of times the embellishments really do just look like things thrown on top of an already good design just so a designer can say they didn't just photocopy the original design. I get it, but it seems to, at least sometimes, actively make the figure worse rather than better.

I also, famously, hated over-designed stuff.

It's point blank my favorite movie of all time. I got see it in theaters every year by myself and quietly cry to myself by the end. Did you do a Jimmy Stewart impression or keep it natural? I do improv here in town and like shoehorning in my Jimmy Stewart whenever I can, but few folks under the age of 60 can appreciate it, lol.

Any ways, I think Classified Hawk looks like Jimmy Stewart.
