G.I. Joe Classified Series

Ah man, another great side topic. Snake Eyes definitely always, fortunately v3 came out when v2's thumb broke off. But Storm Shadow v2, stalker, falcon, tunnel rat, dial tone, sometimes jinx, sometimes Sneak Peek... That's all I can remember. Most of the other guys I had were early casualties necessitating vengeance and such
 
Wow awesome reveals!

Desert Scorpion! One of the coolest Cobras ever, and this new figure looks like an awesome recreation of what made the original so cool. Always loved his character design—the cool mask and helmet, muscular physique (Sun’s out, gun’s out for this guy), the desert colors, and of course that amazing giant scorpion.

Hope Hasbro creates equally cool updates of Desert Scorpion’s wave mates, Incinerator (with the catapult) and Snow Serpent v2 (with rocket snowboard).

Grim Viper looks very cool. Definitely has Darklon vibes with the color scheme, and I just Darklon today!

Wet Suit looks great. I never had him back in the day, but I always wanted him.

Sci-Fi looks really cool. Love the full helmet.

Mainframe! I thought I was the only who liked that guy. Definitely need a tech support character. I actually always liked the batting helmet for him.

Yeah I eventually was able to get a V3 snake eyes. Flint was eventually duct taped together after his o ring broke.
 
Got Darklon today, and he’s fantastic! Darklon was a favorite of mine when I was a kid. Something about his helmet was so creepy and memorable. And he had that giant gattling gun. I also loved it when characters had grenades and shells sculpted onto them. So I always thought his asymmetric boot looked cool. (Speaking of grenades, can we get a TARGAT figure, please?). I also like how Darklon is jacked. Not enough Cobras but the gym enough.

I need to think about how to use the extra silver masked head, which looks very cool. Or just buy a second Darklon?

Also speaking of grenades, now I can’t remember if I ever wrote about Flak Viper, who also came out just amazing. It’s been such a nice time to collect t this line.

The ones on my Joe team were the ones that weren’t broken. I had a tendency to break the dicks off mine unintentionally. I did have favorites. Flint. Lady Jaye, Shipwreck, Alpine, Bazooka, Footloose, Recondo, Leatherneck, Wet Suit, Lifeline, Iceberg, Roadblock v2, Frostbite, Starduster, Falcon, Law & Order, Chuckles, Jinx, Fast Draw, Outback. So it was any combination of them, depending on which vehicles I wanted to use (between SnowCAT, HAVOK).

I forgotten what a problem the crotch was too. I think it was Mutt, Lady Jaye, and Torch who had broken dicks. After that, it was like they had hip displasia.
 
The broken dicks were so annoying! It wasn’t til long after I stopped collecting Joes that I discovered the O-rings could be replaced. But that didn’t solve the broken dick problem, most of which were long gone scraps of plastic. I wasn’t bothering to repair those, which made me give up on even the ones with intact dicks. Couple that with lost accessories, and restoration of my childhood Joes was a lost cause.
 
Guys, I am having a moment of conflict - my mother found a shedload of our old toys from childhood and she wanted to either offload them or sacrifice them to the gods (aka give them to the grandbabies or send them to Savers). I was like "do not throw ANYTHING out" and managed to get her to set aside "those figures with all the holes in them" (CENTURIONS) but "your brother took the big box of GI Joes."

Our. Ouuuuuur Joes. Okay I'm not that conflicted because I saw what was in there in photos and the last thing my wallet needs is for me to get back into O-Ring figures cos you know I'd start hunting them down again. But I am having a bit of petty jealousy. Of course this is the same brother I handed an extra Mandalorian figure to on my birthday because he's too self-conscious to start collecting action figures himself in his 40s, so I guess what I'm asking is:

Which Classified figure am I going to buy him to get him to join us on the dark side? (Also this is a bribe so I can just get a look at who's in the box. I suspect it's mostly his figures anyway - it looked like mostly the older waves so mine are long gone from the old house fire.)

There must be some figures that were prone to be breaking. I think the Rock Viper is one the vintage YouTubers always point out when they see an intact crotch.

I don't have many broken O-Rings or crotches. My brother and I would've been four and nine years old in '82 and our straight arm figures are in rough shape. Loose joints, broken thumbs, and all the Cobras have their chest insignias rubbed off. You can see the condition of our figures begin to improve by '83.

If I find a Snake Eyes at retail I think that's the way to go. Everyone loves Snake Eyes. Can't remember who his favorite was as a kid, but he's also six years younger than me so his favorites were always more of the more colorful guys at the end of the line while I liked the green-uniformed classics at the start.
