G.I. Joe Classified Series

Got my Firefighter from Amazon. What a fantastic figure; this is the kind of toy that could easily be a kid's favorite. He's just so ready-to-go with all his gear on top of the great Snow Job buck. Gorgeous paint work. For $35 it's pretty crazy, nobody else has made generic firemen at this quality and price. I don't know if this guy will ever drop as much as some of the earlier releases, but I certainly want another. I'm excited to split up all his extra gear, the goggles and hand axes in particular are welcome additions.

The only drawback is the lack of any sort of fire hose, which is admittedly a pretty big miss. If anyone has any suggestions, this would be a great place to brainstorm and share ideas. I'm thinking it might be as simple as latex tubing with some sort of metal bit at the end. Maybe something like this?

EDIT: Oh yeah, Mindbender comes with two nozzles for some reason. I guess he is a supporter of firefighters? He does buy all the calendars, after all. Aside from a little bump on the bottom, that tube is roughly a half-centimeter in width, so I'm going to order some tubing off amazon and I'll be sure to share how it looks when I get it set up.

This got me thinking once more about Dook. Coming back to our idea for a retro Joe series set in an alternate 80s, I would like for Hawk to be the general commanding from their headquarters, with Duke in a support role but he's also something of a hurdle due to bureaucratic nonsense or something. We can iron that out in the writers room, but Stalker is the active field commander, and lieutenant colonel.

It's not cheap, but it does come with a fire hose: https://onesixthkit.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=102&product_id=5753

No hose does seem like a miss now that you mention it. It's been done before in 12". Not my photo, but I had this guy from Ertl in the early 2000s. Cloth hose folds up nicely to be carried.

My wife had (and still has) that figure when we first started dating. Now that our oldest son is a firefighter she plans on giving it to him. I ordered a couple of the Joe one, and was going to give him one of those too. I should see if someone can do a custom head sculpt of him for it.

Just received the firefighter. Couple of QC issues - his upper knee joints are loose. The goggles he came with had a big splotch of gray paint on the inside of the left lens. I used acetone to remove it easily, but inadvertently frosted the finish. They were pretty clear before I removed the paint, but the splotch was so obviously covering his eye. Aside from that, the figure is great. Getting the helmet AND oxygen mask on was tricky! I understand the reuse of the jaws of life, but agree that a hose accessory would have been preferred. I believe there was a Marvel Select Garfield Spider-Man exclusive that came with both a fireman's helmet and a firehose nozzle. Would have to dig through my accessory bags, but if I find it, I'm giving it to this guy.

Take the head off, put the mask on, then put the helmet on with the strap from behind the head, pull the strap forward just enough to clear the neck hole, and pop the head back on ;)

RE: Duke, I still think Duke is great, I think v1 Classified Duke is a home-run. I like to have Duke in every setup; he's a busy guy, finding time to join every sub-group and fight on every front. Jack of all trades, he's absolutely obsessed with mission planning and squad cohesion that there isn't a moment of his life that isn't traveling, planning, or active duty.

I stuffed the straps of the face mask into the helmet then pushed the head (still attached to the body) into the space between the helmet strap and the fabric guard.

For me it's purely appreciation of the toys. Sigma Six and Pursuit of Cobra in particular had some great Duke figures, like Paratrooper Duke and Jungle Duke. And it's fun to see the same guy transform himself for different scenarios. He's basically the Barbie of GI Joe.

Also it’s a cool opportunity with Duke to include an alternate generic-soldier head a la the Retaliation “Ultimate Duke” so that you get the famous name to “sell” the figure but it can be not-Duke if you want. They’ve been doing a great job with that with the Steel Corps helmets and should continue with that.

I really liked that alternate head, and would like that kinda thing more than the steel corps design. They got some mileage out of that with Sightline, who was a great repaint of that Duke included with the Sky striker, and I think a driver figure also had that head. Definitely would appreciate that idea.
