G.I. Joe Classified Series

There are a few Classified figs up for prime day. I nabbed the sniper pack on sale. Was thinking of getting a couple more but there was Marvel stuff I wanted. And feeding Amazon as little as I can.

I actually stayed up til midnight to see what went on sale. None of the ones I was hoping for most, but saw the 60th Diver and Road Pig, but I think I've talked myself out of them. Torpedo was another maybe, but as I was telling DarthDre758, I'm still having a hard time with sea guys standing there with land guys. Just my own weird thing.

All true, I've just been in circles the past decade where you can't like anything (oh, you like Red Dead, let's talk about how problematic the West is, oh you like This Artist, check out this anecdote from thirty years ago) and it was too exhausting to live like that.

My personal crisis was Gaiman and I still haven't really reconciled it, but it was the first time I really considered "Should I just get rid of this stuff? But it's too late, I consumed it and it informed me lifetimes ago, it's already part of me, what do I - Scanners Explode".
It's impossible. You just can't fight every injustice and I don't even think people should try. You'll drive yourself mad or suicidal.
My only issue is with people that act like none of it matters and people reacting to these things are somehow wrong or silly or whatever. People are allowed to get upset about things that move them, even if it's just a temporary outrage that they need to get out of their system. It's okay for people to feel what they feel and react accordingly.
That's all I advocate for with stuff like this.
If someone decides this month after reading an article about child slavery that they don't want to buy chocolate bars anymore (almost universally made thanks to child slavery) then okay. If they can't keep it up, that's okay too. But no one should be like 'that's silly of them to feel that way.' It's not. And it wouldn't be silly of Hershey to not announce a brand new type of chocolate bar in the same week that a huge child slavery expose about the chocolate industry comes out. That's just good business sense.

Action figures of real people can be quite a conundrum. Recently I couldn't complete my WWE referee BAF because the head is included with election denying mayor Glen "Kane" Jacobs. I'm somewhat amused that became a redline for me, but it's true.
I sold my Cara Dune/Gina Carano Star Wars Black Series figure literally only because I couldn't stand to look at her likeness on my shelf knowing she's a vile shitbag. It wasn't a political stance. I don't think everyone should do what I did as a form of protest or anything. I, personally, just couldn't look at her anymore. We all have weird lines in the sand.

In regular Joe toy news, and even actually relevant to evil corporations doing evil things and us giving them money anyway: Prime Day!
I nabbed a second Snow Serpent and my first Techno-Viper ever. Should be here later today. Alas, Mutt & Junkyard was not part of the sale.

I also sold mine, and I think that's what set off my big Black Series purge. (I still have "a lot", but really tried to tighten my focus. I have only a handful from the Mandalorian era now, and half of those are Boba Fetts.) But the sentiment you expressed is something I was kinda braced for the first time I looked at my Joes when the Marines were deployed to LA.

Ah damn, is that a Canada thing? Because they're on sale when I looked them up. I already got them the last time they were on sale though, must have been in November.

Yeah, I've got all my military-looking toys put away right now, lucky for me. The only Joe currently displayed is the new Viper.

I would definitely guess that Prime Day items will be different between US and Canada. Snow Serpent was down to 28 bucks, though. And I think the Techno-Viper was 22. Considering these are 35 dollars to start here, those aren't bad prices.

Techno-Viper is cheaper here too, and I also don't have one, but I've had difficulty convincing myself my terrorist organization needs a handyman. (I know they're basically combat engineers.)

I'm sure they need one... but I guess more specifically, does my shelf? Do I need maintenance staff representation? It's another thing I think about with the Joes as well, as I have one figure I consider support staff, but in reality I probably need dozens, but I can't go there.

Either way... I'll probably buy that Techno-Viper by this evening damnit.

I'm actually a little envious of folks who have quirks about which figures they won't buy, cos I'm kind of unhinged, I'll pick up anything that I think seems fun, and Joes in particular can be super unhinged. I mean I was messing around with Shiprwreck last night (I was trying to fix a stuck hip on him) and was like Hector, you do not belong ANYWHERE on this team, why are you even here? But he's one of my favorite figures, too. Why is Shipwreck hanging out with Alpine? Cats and dogs, living together, MASS HYSTERIA

And as I sit here self-shaming my lack of control, Footloose and Darklon have left the building from Pulse. Sweet.

I forgot all about the whole Cara Dune thing. I never sold mine, but just tossed her in a box with other Star Wars stuff that isn't on a shelf.

My Joes shelf tends to be more the weirdos than the realistic figures (I think the most "realistic" guy on the shelf right now is Beachhead), but yeah, sometimes the convergence of reality and collecting is hard to separate. Like it was kind of surreal seeing the pics of a new Valaverse figure yesterday who was wearing basically the same outfit as the dudes doing the photo op in MacArthur Park. Not a knock on Valaverse, I have no dog in that race, but it's that gut-punch immediacy of it that gets me. (Right down to the khaki face mask and sunglasses, it was just an immediate 1::1 comparison.) But it really is tough to keep up with the problems of the world without going mad. I was literally just in a call and someone ELSE brought up the client using a platform that has a, um, Nazi problem and I was relieved someone else was the Raven of Doom for once cos I'm tired of always being the doomsayer about everything.

Just shut up and buy it. Jesus, dude. We're all tired of playing this game with you. You know you're gonna buy it. I know you're gonna buy it. Vicious knows you're gonna buy it. What are we doing here?

y'all don't just go "oh wow this guy is purple!" and buy it?

See, that's exactly why I didn't buy one, and instead bought the damn HMS for a black & red one and am now stuck with an HMS I don't want lol.

I'd still like a few more, too, unfortunately. I'm just trying to keep my nameless/faceless soldiers to blue & black or red & black, lol. Anyone else (orange Alley Viper [I have two for sale, if anyone's interested], SAW Viper) are one-off guys.

That's actually where my head is too. And the red one... maybe I could accept him as a HISS Driver? Possibly. I know it's irritating how many rules and deceptions I have to create just to buy a toy.

Hey! Don't tell me what to goddamned do!
(adds to cart...)

Purple guys all hang out in the background of Mindbender's setup, of course. No but really, I picked up a couple of those Buzz Lightyear drills that other people were customizing and I'm going to put my techno vipers with one of those. Haven't decided to paint it purple or black. He's a cool figure. He's got tubes! Need I say more? Tube alliance, assemble!
