G.I. Joe Classified Series

An old customizing friend of mine asked if I was still looking for a Range Viper. Of course I was, they only made twelve of them. He had one that was completely disassembled for a custom he never got to. I got it yesterday, and in about 15 minutes later, I had a Range Viper for my collection finally.

Really awesome. I have accepted I will never own a classic style Range Viper and have a version only because I got the fire team set.

I was never a Frag Viper fan. I don't get his outfit. Weird beige unitard and a blue sash? Their specialty is lobbing grenades, right? Can't a regular Cobra Trapper do that?
Cobra had a big recruitment drive in Miami and wanted to use the new recruits skills wisely

I had no idea range vipers were that hard to get. Were they just produced during that early era where EVERYTHING was hard to find for a while and never reissued?

He was a Walmart Exclusive and, for whatever reason, didn't seem to show up anywhere. I'd love to own one myself, but Walmarts in this part of Canada straight up barely carry Joe at all, barely carry any Walmart exclusives of any kind, and therefore never got a single Range Viper as far as I'm aware.

Oh that's right - those early Walmart exclusives were obscenely hard to get. And then the only way to get the variant range viper was in the three HISS fire team pack.

I don't remember how I got my RV, but it wasn't easy (I think I missed the initial preorder, but then got one in later, but then that got cancelled, but then they were in stock to ship at the same time).

He is just specifically Skull Buster in my canon.

Heheh. You don’t wanna know about my Range-Viper squad.

Also: two minutes and some diluted black paint make a shiny head into a nightmare mask:

This is absolutely one of the top 10 Classifieds so far as far as I am concerned.
Yeah, him and Fraggy won’t win any “military accuracy” awards, but they are EXACTLY why I am here.

I'd like to see the Range Viper released in jungle colors. They released one during the Pursuit of Cobra era which was rather cool. He would also look good in desert and arctic colorways.

Frag Vipers. I'd like to see him in more traditional Cobra blue with some red accents. Regarding his specialty, he can certainly throw grenades a lot farther than a normal guy, so I don't see him as useless. Instead of a grenade launcher, he whips the grenades with his scoops. Overthought? Maybe. But it's fine. Plenty of zaniness in the Cobra forces.

Never cared for Darklon. Colors are design are too garish and slapdash for me. Based on Iron Grenadiers Destro and the basic IG trooper, I thought their forces would be more formal. War is business. Then the other characters are just damn silly in their appearance. I think Voltar is ok, even though his color is a bit odd, given Destro and the IG. Metal Head being crazy just doesn't mesh, as Destro certainly wouldn't hire a loon, would he? I feel the IG could have been way cooler than they were if they had some kind of throughline to their looks. As they are, you could basically just call them Cobra guys and no one would blink an eye.

I’m guessing weren’t not getting a live stream tomorrow with no announcement made yet? They went from live streams every week to radio silence awful quickly. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Haslab gets delayed at this point too.

I hope they do a re-issue or retro-card of the Range Viper in his regular colors. That's really the only version of RV that I want. I don't need dark colors or more realistic colors or anything like that. I just want my goofy blue-skull guy. He sold out everywhere so you'd think Walmart would even be okay with having another crack at him themselves if Hasbro offered.
