G.I. Joe Classified Series

I LOVED that command center as a a kid. LOVED.

I know we have one en route, but I really wish they'd do more with the mini-playsets the ARAH stuff had, the sandbags and bivouacs and stuff. Something small you could use to make a shelf display look really slick. I mean I'd love a huge playset too, but they could easily scratch the playset itch with a few more like the Cobra one we're getting (which I don't think is particularly standout, but it's a good first attempt).
Agree. Smaller pieces here and there, you can throw them all together and have a decent battlefield dio, or not. Duke with some sandbags, Roadblock with..a roadblock I guess, Mindbender with tanning oil applicator, Cobra troopers with barbed wire.

I don't need that myself, and I've actually avoided all the HasLabs so far. But the two that MIGHT get me would be a Conquest and an X-Wing. I've always had a soft spot for the cool-looking sci-fi dogfighters. And those two are franchise icons for me, even if for most people it's the Skystriker where Joe is concerned.

I've been arguing that an X-30 Conquest makes more sense for Classified than the Skystriker. One, the Skystriker is just too large for this scale. It would be difficult to fly around. A Conquest is much more manageable size-wise. And frankly, the Conquest is just more unique to GIJoe. It's still iconic as it got a lot of cartoon representation, so there is brand recognition built into it. It would be about the same size as the upcoming Rattler, so it would be a good match of aircrafts.

I think a modular playset would be the best approach for this line. We have the upcoming Perimeter set, but I think something a little more solid. A slightly curved wall. Get a bunch and you can build part of a Terrordome. Have some side walls, which don't go the full depth so figures can walk around them. You can make a full circle with maybe six sets. If it did well, make the 2nd floor piece, which tapers inward from bottom to top. And then the top floor. The ground floor piece could still work on its own as a playset. Even if you only got a few, you could still make a small fort, since you have some partial side walls. They could pack in some accessories with other figures. Deluxe pricepoint which come with weapon systems. Like a Cobra Infantry Heavy Gunner, who comes with a heavy gun emplacment, which could attach to the playset or be used on its own. So a few pieces come with figures here or there, but they can also attach to playsets and vehicles. A full Classified Terrordome would be a tough pill to swallow all in one go. But if they showcase the first floor piece with the intention of other floors coming down the road, I think it could be successful.

Honestly whether it was Haslab, or made to order, I really wish Hasbro would hit up some of the classic O-ring vehicles. Most of the ARAH line is 40(ish) years old and the figures and vehicles are starting to break down due to age and plastic deterioration. It is great having a bunch of figures and vehicles getting remade since the 1998 anniversary line (up to 25th/ME). However there are a number of iconic vehicles that haven't ever gotten a reissue that I would love to see again, maybe with some minor upgrades to address common problems.

I know the Haslab model is killing it with Classified vehicles, but maybe one-offs through Haslab or, more likely, made to order would address some of those vehicles. My personal choice would be for a Night Raven where they can address the lowering cockpit issue. The Night Raven is awesome, big, and would be expensive to get out to retail so go with the MTO model instead. Also my original is getting a bit dicey with the thin plastic areas. I fear a piece snapping on my any day now like some other thin plastic areas on other vehicles.

So why not Hasbro? (I know the reasons why, but I can still dream).

Agreed. Both because you're right and because the X-30 is my favourite.

If anything that's probably something you'd need to ask Super7 for at this point. Hasbro seems to have handed off any remaining classic O-Ring collectors to them. May the Lord Bless and Protect You.

Yeah, the Skystriker is more... iconic overall? But the Conquest feels infinitely more doable and more unique to the series.

Maybe a throne room or something?

I always really liked this:

That feels not as crazy as the Defiant.
My brother received this for Christmas in '88. I thought it was the greatest thing ever. It was like a leg-less AT-AT with a lot of cool stuff to mess around with. The vehicle bay was the best.

I'd have to put a Classified-scale version in my backyard — and I might do it given the chance!

And yes, all the Conquest statements are spot on. I think it's a no-brainer for a Haslab at some point soon.

Agreed.
The Skystriker is iconic, but I’d say that’s because that plane design is more iconic for the 80s in general and frankly for the movie Top Gun than for Joe specifically. There Conquest is more unique to the actual IP, if less famous

The Conquest can only sit one figure, so could be a chance to do some support crew or something. Or I guess the Joe version of pilots like Lady Jaye and someone else?

If the upcoming Haslab is the SnowCat, we’ll have ground covered with Hiss and SnowCat. Air covered with Rattler and Dragonfly. That leaves Sea (and technically Space but I think we’re a ways off there) as the main terrain not yet covered. Cobra would be up next year so I would think we’ll finally see an aquatic vehicle. We’ve got plenty of divers already but Eels would be a timely addition to that Haslab, should it be water based.

I live in abject terror that they announce the WHALE at some point. I agree with Ru that Water Moccasin feels like more of a general release cos it's not super huge or complicated, but I wonder if they'd want to release both or not. Am I crazy that if I had to pick between the two I'd rather just have the Moccasin? I feel like I could reasonably do more with that. (Of course I say this as I look at pics of the Hydrofoil and am like OOOOOOOH)

I'm officially taking myself off my own trusted opinion list when it comes to scale for 1/12 vehicles and such. I was just looking for what other water vehicles they released back in the day, saw the headquarters/command center, was like that's not THAT big, then saw a VAMP parked inside it and was like oh crap that's HUGE

I remember substituting the Whale for the land locked freighter on Cobra Island and burying several Cobra's under pillows.
