G.I. Joe Classified Series

So do we hope the scorpion is a giant actual scorpion or a robot scorpion?

Personally, I’m hoping for a giant actual scorpion. I will need several.
Giant actual scorpion or GTFO.

As I said at the render reveal, I'm actual disappointed with the Slice and Dice set. Too much re-imagining of the costumes, and Slice not having his distinctive speckle/splatter pattern is fucking criminal. That was basically the coolest thing about the original design. They're cool figures, don't get me wrong. But too much detail we don't need and lacking the detail that matters really irritates me.
And only me, it would seem.

Love Budo and may end up with fucking three, which is downright pathetic really. But I still wish literally any US toy company could figure out how to sculpt katanas, because they're all fucking ass at it.

My wife is a big Clash of the Titans fan, and I am currently using that as the fulcrum to explain why I need an army of Desert Scorpions’ giant scorpions. It’s going pretty well.
Kinda excited to have a bunch of Legacy cops get into a fight with giant scorpions. Feels very 50s atomic-monster movie.

Ah man, I was crazy about Clash of the Titans when I was a kid. Some of the Sinbad movies too, but Titans was my favorite Harryhausen. I can only imagine the faces my kids would make if I tried to show them some stop motion animation.

Zoom in, it’s there.

Slice and Dice are two of the few original Joe figures I had and that set is calling to me so hard right now. I've only got a couple of Joes but every time they reveal stuff I can see how I'd fall totally into this line. Must stay strong. Budo looks sick as hell too. I know that there are reasons other Hasbro lines can't offer stuff this fully kitted out, but it's consistently impressive the effort they put into these.

I think I will grab the cop just like I've preordered the firefighter because I can sneak him into nearly any display as background, and he'll be an excellent punching bag for... well almost anyone on my shelves, really. Captain America maybe wouldn't punch a cop... maybe, but Spider-Man? The X-Men? They have a lot of run-ins with the law. I do think the outfit options are trying to split the difference between beat cop and SWAT and falling much more into the SWAT territory, but one of my favorite figures from the old Resaurus/Plan-B Toys lines was that SWAT figure so works for me.

That's how I was. I had a Snake Eyes and a Storm shadow for quite a while, then finally jumped in. It's the most fun I've had collecting in a really long time. Just getting neat figures or ones I loved as a kid, or ones I always coveted as a kid. Scrap Iron is such a weird one but I never had him and love the classified figure, and Major Bludd is another i can't wait to finally own.

So, if you fall in, it's not weakness. It may simply be joy.

Agreed they don't quite work for me as beat cops. Or beat cops as seen in comic books. Modern real-life police are always so kitted out with all the military toys they waste over half our municipal budgets on that they do all look somewhat SWATish. And I have the militarized SWAT look well-represented through Valaverse builders. But in comics beat cops often look less militarized and the only representation we have of that look is 5" zombie cops from Resident Evil, Lou from the Playmates Simpsons line, and that fall-apart cop accessory from the 2000 X Men line held together by strings. I have wanted some good beat cops (and a 1:12-1:15 police car) for my GCPD for too long.

I miss the stars, too. The mask, red color, and stars all made Slice. I liked the little cloth bits as well, which I might recreate with wired cloth scarves. I guess it's just been long enough since we saw the mock-ups that I have made peace with it. Still, if they were to make a more classic version now with less armor and with stars, I'd buy him immediately. Same goes for bright orange Slice. I'd also love to see orange Slice on this new redesign.

And I can't agree with Buttmunch. There's no stars. There might be tiny speckles from spraypaint, but the old figure had actual star designs. They were fun, imperfect tiny stars, each unique like a snowflake.

To end on a positive note, the pictures where Slice's belt on backwards make him look so much cooler to me. I like the simpler design.

With the way they are doing the line now I could see them doing the Classified version first for Slice/Dice and Desert Scorpion. Then we get Retro carded versions later with the original looks.

Personally for the Desert Scorpion I am hoping for a robotic scorpion. Something akin to the 25th/ME release.. A real scorpion isn't big enough to be a "pet" in the line (in my mind's eye). I know, I know it could be a mutated scorpion, or lab created hybrid. However save it for the Retro release and give me a robotic version instead.

So a giant robo scorpion that doubles as a sand surfboard, and two mutated puppy size scorpions for emotional support.

I'm hoping for giant mutant scorpion because that would be nightmare fuel, but a robot one would be fun too.
