Yeah, I can't verify my colleague's outlook on Hasbro, but he's worked with them for like 30 years as a contractor. He gets super irritated whenever Wizards of the Coast do something stupid because it's so often counter to his experience with how the parent company operates. A while back he rattled off what Hasbro donates to politically behind the scenes and I was surprised by how progressive the list was.

I originally had him holding an M-16 as well, from the Falcon/Quarrel set, because of this:

Like I said, it's second hand information, but I suppose in corporate America, money-grubbing is comparatively ethical to like, capitulating to tyrants or whatever. That's where he was coming from. As the saying goes, though, there's no ethical consumption in capitalism. The best company is still a shithole.

Exactly. The guy who was relatively pro-Hasbro also told me which TTRPG company he stopped working for when the new ownership started sneaking in white supremacist dogwhistles into their books. "Donates significantly to trans rights groups but overcharges for action figures is better than hiding Nazi imagery in your books" was the barometer he was using for corporate ethics.

Chances are good that not all of their retailers will get the pump the breaks notice in time to prevent some preorders from popping up. Seems like communication has not been great from Hasbro today.

Somewhere someone on the web teams for BBTS and EE etc. are scrambling and, been there, done that, hate it for them. That's not a fun morning.
