G.I. Joe Classified Series

Yeah, the stinger is clearly this years falcon/quarrel for me where I keep chasing the lower price and stuck in a loop of returns.

Apparently we are in "YoJoe June" right now. Likely going up for preorder on 6/11:
Retro BAT
Retro Joe army builder soldier
Legacy Police Officer
Possibly another Pulse exclusive, which may be the AWE Striker, or the Slaughter/Mercer set.

The set with Night Viper, Flash, and Wet Suit (though... Sci Fi is still mentioned to be part of it too) may have been pushed back to July.

I do hope the Greenshirt and the cop ship around the same time, so I can do all the headswaps.

Those cops are going to look pretty good with Jon Bernthal Punisher, if you take my meaning.
WELP, you just REALLY SOLD ME on a figure I wasn't going to buy

(Also dangit, I don't want cop figures but I do love a good head swap and that would open up two more greenshirt options, argh...)

Oh man.... the retro green shirt army builder and legacy cop going up the same day is going to be SO expensive. I want a minimum of 4 of each of them...

And I was honestly eyeing the current 6 inch Ghostbusters 4 pack, not because I care at all about Ghostbusters figures but because I thought 4 guys in coveralls/jumpsuits might be usable for my Joes... like as vehicle mechanics or something. I have a sickness.

I've been fiddling more and more with the action sailor and I'm so stoked for Fireman + Swat Cop. These things are just fantastic. It's neat how you could realistically collect three sublines of Classified (or any combination like most of us): Mainline, only Retros, or only 60th army builders. Making a top ten list now would be hell, but I'm certain the action sailor would be up there.

The new Viper holds that darned bullpup SMG that comes with Alley Viper terrifically. I really hope we get a new Alley Viper. The existing one kinda sucks. I hate that I bought a case of 'em. Overeager Classified collector things 😂

Welp, now I gotta try that. I tend to think of that gun as so Alley-Viper-specific but you’re right: looks fantastic. And the other rifle from the A-V looks great with the Viper as well! I already tried that one. I also like just giving them the gray version of the CI Viper rifle that came with Crimson Viper. There’s nothing that quite gets the vibes of the classic Viper rifle, but that seems to come the closest.
I’m up to like 20 retro Vipers and climbing now. Just letting all my preorders ride.

My favorite thing when I get a new Joe like Viper, pull out the whole Classified gun drawer, pull out my big metal tin of Valaverse, and spend the next hour trying everything 😂 throw on something chill to background watch and play "gun dress-up"

Quick note, interesting how Hasbro limited the amount of pre-orders for both the Gamerverse and Classified lines this week, but only for a couple days. So it looks like they sold out, but then two days later it's almost all (except the Target one) available again to pre-order. FOMO shenanigans!

This is toy collecting, so I'm not sure if I should say 'you're welcome' or 'I'm sorry.' You're the professional writer - what's a word that combines the two responses? I feel like it's not a word so much as an action - like setting off a bunch of firecrackers in your car and then 6 grand in cash in your basement... in pennies.

I have a sickness.

You do. But at least you know and, therefore, can take steps to resolve this and conquer your collecting bad habits.

Morgan Freeman Voiceover: "He did not do that."

I don't understand the appeal of this figure. The second they showed off Action Sailor, I wanted it. And ever since buying it, it's been one of my absolute favorite Classified offerings. And I could not, for the life of me, with a gun to my head, tell you exactly what I find so appealing about it. But it's just such a good figure.

As a kid this never bothered me. But ever since my days collecting 25A, I've really disliked the image of (how most people display) the Alley Viper with the bullpup rifle and shield. Maybe if they had bionic exoskeletons or something. Otherwise, there's no way they're holding up a riot shield and managing the muzzle climb and recoil on any kind of rifle. So, I've really taken to the idea of shield-vipers using pistols or small PDWs/machine pistols -or- having Alley Vipers not use riot shields, but like... that's the coolest part about them?

Anyway... I still want my fucking yellow and black Alley Viper. That's the best version. I am not accepting alternate opinions at this time.

Tangent: if you want to watch something that will make you wish Budo was shipping YESTERDAY, Predator: Killer of Killers has me like "I want Budo NOW" and also pulling out my Joe generic ninjas to see if they scale okay with the Marvel Legend ninja so I can have a ninja vs. predator party on the display shelf.

Honestly, if we're not pushing each other to buy stuff we don't need, are we really action figure collectors? Every text message I send to my friend when I know I'm about to send a link to something he wants starts with "sorry I'm your drug pusher but..."
