G.I. Joe Classified Series

Holy crap that Hawk. The missile system is just reuse from the Cobra one, right? Not even remotely a complaint because I was just messing with that last night trying to set up the HISS fire team and was like: this thing just rocks.

Also looks like Hawk will be the next 'two timelines' character in my collection.
 
I honestly never squared v1. Hawk and v2. Hawk being the same guy. Generic bro that came with the third coolest anti-aircraft emplacement leads the whole thing?
 
I forgot about the live stream tomorrow. Do we know for sure what's going up for preorder yet?
 
Hawk, Budo, Night Viper, Flash, and.... Damnit, the other one. Now Sci Fi doesn't seem a certainty.
 
I am legitimately fucking stoked for Night Viper. Really hoping it's a pretty direct update of the vintage toy. I love that guy.
 
I never had Torpedo as a kid, so Wet Suit was my underwater guy. Can't wait to get him.
 
Apropos of nothing, I just got the retro Viper and... after so many bad hips on so many vipers... I have one with perfect ROM. Finally. Now I just gotta figure out what his deal is. It's funny, the two "unique" troopers really jumped out at me as having personalities (the officer is the Operative, who might be Cobra Commander's intelligence officer or he might be a double agent for Joes or he might be secretly working for the Joes... nobody know sand when he shows up everyone is anxious) and the retro trooper is the Fixer, CC's personal low-key knife man who does the dirty work he doesn't want someone flashier taking care of. I think the retro Viper might be the Professional - not a Cobra true believer but the one who sees the correlation between reliable work and good pay. Joining Cobra was also a way to ditch his identity and avoid prison.

So funny story - I did and it didn't work, so I rinsed them off, let them air dry (still stuck), stuffed the entire battalion in a box, and ignored them for like six months. I opened that box up this weekend and all the hips now work. Makes me wonder if the shock oil spread out better or y'know... melted their hips, but either way, I now have a functional squad of vipers. Maybe the retro is their NCO?

Another headcanon for me, the Joe earth is just another Marvel multiverse (Earth 1983? let go with that). In that world is almost identical with the mainstream Marvel, but minus most super powered people. So no Mutants, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider, but Captain America, Luke Cage, Iron Man and SHIELD fit right in. Oh, and the Punisher was disqualified for Joe service due to being mentally unstable.
 
@docsilence It could have to do with heat. I know when my computer room is cold, these guys' hips lock up tighter than Fort Knox. But on a hot day, like yesterday, they're so loose that they're literally toppling off my shelves. Retro Gung Ho just Geronimo'd off the shelf, taking four other Joes with him, making me dig through the couch and carpet to find his cover along with various silencers, bolts, and other weapons.

MMS looks cool. I think I had this vehicle as a kid, except it was just the base of the vehicle with no missiles and missing a wheel. We were poor. Anyway, it's hard to get excited for this buck after getting a dozen figures on it, but Hawk still looks nice with that headsculpt and vest. Love how they have been placing the pistol holsters on the vest (along with proper swivels on the right wrist to use them). The MMS looks better in green than the Cobra version, imo. StG killing it with product photos as always.

Most of all, in regards to tomorrow, I'm really stoked to see diorama photos of Slice and Dice. Seeing Budo, Slice and Dice all be shown at the same time gives me hope for more of Ninja Force. Let's all go around talking about how people are going to army build and scalp them, and force people's FOMO into helping them sell! 😂 😂
