G.I. Joe Classified Series

Opened Monkeywrench and nuBludd today and they are both fantastic. MW is a big boy like Darklon and he has incredibly jacked arms. Cool that you can strip all his weapons and gear off and he’s just a big cool biker. He has tons of personality. Bludd outstanding: seems they’ve reworked his shoulder pauldron and helmet as both stay on much better. I still want a fully classic Bludd v1, but this guy is so intimidating. Missiles still don’t stay in the damn backpack though.

I opened the new Cover Girl. Very nice figure. Much better then the first one. But the first one will still have that place and I'll figure out something to name her. But this one looks alot more like what I imagine CG would. And the different hair and head options is fun. I'm probably gonna keep the hat and pony tail on the smiling head, with her sledge leaning on her shoulder lol. I was thinking of maybe trying the hair out on Shanna from the SDCC set but I haven't pulled Shannas hair off to see how it looks yet. Ill get around to it eventually. But its probably too flat. Shanna needs some volume. That humidity...

My weirdo way of figuring out how to have two of the same character like Cover Girl is a split timeline, retro and updated. Like Retro Duke and Scarlet seen some shit but their younger modern counterparts are more familiar with modern technology. I kinda see the retro figures as versions who got kicked forward from another timeline. The two Beachheads get along perfectly because they both hate small talk and like just getting stuff done. Gonna do the same with CG and Flint. (Doesn't QUITE work with guys like Stalker or Snake Eyes whose retro figures and modern figures are either too similar or overlap enough that it's not clear which timeline they're from, though I do think at a minimum the retro SE is from the past.)

Retro Cobra Commander really admires the fashion ambitions of modern CC.

Did GI Joe ever do Multiverse? Even mirror mirror star trek kind? I honestly would kinda rather have her be someone else honestly though lol.

Lara "Carjack" Rivers? Do something with her being like a car thief when she was younger, but turned her life around and is now a mechanic alongside CG for the Joe's. Something like that is what's mowing around in my head. But I'm sure you guys can do better then me.

At least in the cartoon we know alternate timelines exist, since a few Joes go to one and never come home. Worlds Without End is wild.

I remember being a little freaked out by the disease carrying bug in that one when I was a little kid. Correct me if I’m wrong but it may be the only episode with dead Joes even if they technically died offscreen and were alternate reality Joes.

Is it me, or are the "search" features on Walmart and Target's websites worthless? I go to the app/site and type in "GI Joe Classified _____" and 9 times out of 10, it just pulls up random figures, even when there are actual listing for the item on their site.

For example, when I go to the WM app and type in "GI Joe Classified Monkeywrench ", the top 3 things it offers are Super 7 CoCo Once a Man, a Gremlins Mogwai figure, and the 2005 Monkeywrench for $65. After that, it starts suggesting Classified stuff (preorders and old figures both), but no Monkeywrench. But if I go to Google and type in Classified Monkeywrench Walmart, it pulls up a direct page. Target did the same thing with Breaker, where there is a dedicated page to order him if you look it up individually on google, but when you look it up on the app or site, it gives you Night Force Big Ben, PP Copperhead, retro Gung Ho, and #1 Roadblock (!). Then it gives you the Firefighter, which at least is new,but no Breaker. Make it make sense!!

Yes, I’ve found both website’s search features to be worthless. You’ve found the workaround though, googling the item with the name of the retailer. That’s usually how I find the actual listings (and usually they’re sold out or out of stock, which is why they don’t come up on the website search).

Speaking of which, I just received Monkeywrench from Walmart (got the direct link from Reddit).

He is definitely beefy. But also appropriately psychotic looking. I prefer him with the center parted hair that exposes his face, but the mask with the slicked back hair is pretty insane. Some kind of breathing mask apparatus, with 3D red/blue goggles?

He has two bandanas meant to be worn either down around the neck or over his nose and mouth to hide a sadistic grin. That’s easier to put on if you remove the head and slide it up from the chin. He can wear the sunglasses with that bandana.

He has two axe/wrench hybrids that can be slung into his bandolier. The loops are only connected on one side, so the tools don’t actually slide through, they’re just C-gripped in.

He has a modified revolver with what seems like saw teeth at the bottom of the barrel, can be holstered on his right leg.

And he has his signature harpoon launcher that also seems to be a shotgun. Don’t remember if those barrels were on the original toy, but it’s more noticeable on this when you remove the harpoon. He also comes with two fists which I’ll never use.

They really go all in on Dreadnoks, and Monkeywrench is no exception. Thrilled to add him to the group.

Someone, I expect Lenny, is a huge Dreadnoks fan. And it shows. Even if I'm not a fan of those characters myself most of the time, I can look at the Classified output and see that someone is making sure everyone in that crew turns out JUST right.

Not just “JUST right” but extra. They’re always something more than what I remember. Like Hi-Def, extended director’s cut.
