It's funny, I really DIDN'T want that version of Snake Eyes. I always hated the bare hands. But that dude hung out on my desk for WEEKS this year. He's just so simple but posable - not my favorite SE by a longshot but I think he's so no-frills he was just fun to pose while I was stuck in boring meetings and stuff. I wouldn't mind swapping his hands out for gloved ones (or should I just cave and use the pink ones permanently?) but he's define one of the few figures in this line I actively didn't want and only got for the polar bear but have fun with anyway.

I'm very specific about each driver if I want them or not. Some of the Cobra drivers have fuckin' great designs. Like, I LOVE the Ice Viper. I'd want him if we got the Wolf or not. But others I don't really care about. It's legit aesthetics for me with the Cobra drivers. For the Joes, I think I hold out hope for affordable small vehicles for some drivers, but then others were just kind of iconic and would require vehicles they'd be INSANE to make, like Cutter or Payload (okay maybe the WHALE is just insane to me personally). I'm torn on guys like Ace who are CHARACTERS I want, but I imagine they're debating if they save him for a Haslab or not. Or someone like Toll Booth whose vehicle prooooobably isn't cool enough to warrant 1:12 scale but might be fun to get some day.

Edit: looking at drivers they haven't made yet I just discovered that Backstop is the only Canadian member of GI Joe, canonically by file card. He's from Quebec!

I'd take most of the Joe Drivers without vehicles, but I agree many of the Cobra drivers are sort of meh. Fill-in-the-Blank-Viper whose only specialty is driving doesn't do much for me.

I imagine it's a combination of what they think will sell and their personal biases. If Lenny is, say, 46, then I'd be willing to bet most of his nostalgia for G.I. Joe kind of ends around '88-'89. And that seems to track as the preferred era for a lot of Joe fans, so it makes sense to focus there.

So he needs a younger partner to open his eyes to the 90s.

For me it is still entirely dependent on the figure. Some vehicle drivers have a great look. Some do not. I mostly take them out of the context of their vehicle under the assumption we aren't getting most of those vehicles (or, if we do, I won't be getting them). I do think they're necessary to consider a year 'completed,' though.

I agree. Even if they suck, I want them to be done, especially since there's a good chance the Classified machine may make them suck a lot less.

I am also in the camp of 'it depends on the driver.' In fact, I don't think the list of drivers I -really want- is very long.

And Hasbro could probably convince me on Dogfight, Ferret, Overlord, and Star-Viper.

That's it. No other drivers left that I actually care about.

Does Interrogator count?
Probably Overlord
Raven/Strato-Viper
Serpentor
Decimator

So not too many either, and almost half just need to be reissued.

And I find I don't really care about your top three without their respective vehicles. ALTHOUGH... I will happily take a HISS Gunner in -arctic- colors now, thankyouverymuch.

Well, I just like the design, AND... I think I'm a 1982-1984 Cobra Completist. I will repurpose the HISS people as medics or something with my custom file cards, which I'm not even looking forward to doing anymore since I lost photoshop completely and am struggling to learn new software I've replaced it with. Also why I have been completely slacking hard on Doc's files the last month or so.

With Serpentor, I actually don't even know what I want anymore. I never liked the character or the concept behind him, but am ready to lay the IDW cult-leader persona over whatever Hasbro makes available, so may as well be what you want, heh.

Now I'm thinking about which drivers I'd want WITHOUT a vehicle if that's our only option. I think it's a pretty short list, though there's a bunch with vehicles that may not happen I'd still want

Joes:

• Grand Slam (since he's an OG)
• Cutter (since the WHALE is too much)
• Lift Ticket (since the Tomahawk is TOO BIG)
• Skystriker (TIGER FORCE! also his jet is too big)

I realize I get weird in '88. Not much interest after that. Skidmark is a nostalgic pick and maybe Windchill just to flesh out the arctic troops.

Characters I'm okay not getting, but whom I have enough interest in I'd think about it: Ace, Thunder, Heavy Metal, Keel-Haul, Cross Country, Slipstream.

Cobra:

• IG Destro should be released like, tomorrow. But I like him enough I'd suck it up and buy him with his vehicle if they made it.
• Wild Weasel not for me but for everyone who missed him. (Though I could be sold on a retro version.)
• Lamprey (though I think the hydrofoil might be doable as a fan channel release?)
• Strato-Viper
• Gyro-Viper (just one of those figures who survived so long I want him for nostalgia)
• Star Viper

Then some folks I think whose vehicles are doable in Classified scale but I want them one way or another;

• AVAC (whom I think should come with a firebat)
• Thrasher arguably could come with a vehicle, it's not much bigger than a VAMP
• Zanzibar - I want him on his own but I could see him getting his vehicle.

And lastly I want a Sea Slug but I want him FUCKING WEIRD, like Cobra La body experimentation weird.

He was kinda weird already. I remember his figure seemed like he hit the gym HARD, but only worked on his pecs. But yeah, Cobra La interpretation could be interesting. I wonder if they'll actually flesh Cobra La out some more. Not just the citizen and scientist guys, but actually doing like Wolf Spider-level of new characters in that theme.

I love so many Cobra drivers:

Star Viper! Such a cool look. I found him and his vehicle long after the it was discontinued. One of the coolest looking pilots. The vehicle wasn’t too big either. I’d love both in Classified.

Strato Viper and Motor Viper were in the animated series a lot. I never had them, but I’d love to get them.

Lampreys would be awesome. My version was the Sonic Fighters version. Would be amazing to get that version in Classified.

How about the Vapor figure and Hurricane VTOL? Such a cool looking pilot and a great plane!

And that makes perfect sense if they do the Moray, then release him later as the sonic version!

Vapor is one of those I would be interested to see how they handle him.
