G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

You know I keep looking at pics of that new Duke, and I really kind of love it. Its funny how sometime something thats pretty basic, but done well, can really win me over.

I wonder if stuff like a "rugged" Snake Eyes or Scarlet or whatever is in the cards....

Interesting thing for Energon designs is Jinx already cashed out with hers from Scarlett's mini.

Id argue thats kind of the one from the 2 pack with Timber TBH...
Mmmmm “Alpha Commandos” is a reworked v1 S-E design, and has pins.
The other two-pack S-E is a repaint of the Classified v1.
Niether of those, to me, fundamentally represents that artwork. Maybe if Alpha Commandos had a wrinkly, non-“helmet” head with the knight visor, we’d be mostly there, but again: pins.

I don’t think it needs a full-body new sculpt, but it does need a new bespoke head and probably that web gear as well, which they did sculpt years ago in the 3 3/4 line.

Yeah, if they can do something like that art, and include both head styles, it would be so much better than the alpha figures.

In other news, I was talking to my brother in law on the 4th about the Danny McBride Joe movie, and he was SO excited for it. He immediately brought up how much he loved MOTU, so he clearly expects something along those lines as a love letter to the old cartoon he was familiar with. He loves stuff like that but is very removed from any nerd communities, so I tend to take him as a sample of the general audience. Hopefully Danny saw MOTU and has some ideas in that vein since that's what the public may be expecting.

They should do a movie based on the Shipwreck episodes with his fake family. Build the cast out, maybe it affects more Joes.

Last month Hasbro said they'd replace my Zanyas with something, but they had a fulfillment software error so please hold.

Just got a nice bespoke message saying it was resolved and my replacements (it's a mystery) are en route.

Fair enough, though tbh "pins" dont bother me hugely. I've collected toys my whole life, I'm used to pins.

The pins don't bother me as much either, but the differences in that art and the figure stand out enough for me. The art really epitomizes what I want for a Snake Eyes while the Alpha figures have things I would definitely change. If that's good enough for others, awesome. There are certain figures I'll be real picky with, and almost envy when someone is satisfied with, say, a Black Series Boba Fett while I'm sneering at things they got wrong or how the shape of the helmet isn't right because it's rubbery and has to fit the unmasked head, etc. And Snake Eyes, along with Storm Shadow, fall into that for me as well.

I dunno if its a hot take or not but I actually love the SE origins movie figure. Its so sleak and ninjaesk. It reminds me of Raiden from MGS, not sure if they took inspiration from Snake Eyes or not, but they look really similar. And I love that look. I have 2 other Snake Eyes figure since hes my favorite character, but the origins one is still the best looking imo. I don't have the V4 yet, so I can't compare that, but I will get him eventually.

I never even saw the movie but I think the Snake Eyes is an excellent figure - he's the sort of Snake Eyes that if someone were, say, a new collector pissed off at not being able to get the first Classified version, the movie one can stand in JUST fine.

(I also think the likenesses on Baroness and Scarlett are not strong enough to the actresses that they can stand in for both characters, too, though. Storm Shadow isn't awful but he kind got the boring end of the stick with costume design.)
